What: Grumpy dragon dad cooks.
[ True to his message, Boreas can be found inside the Temple's rudimentary kitchen. He's cleared out a decent amount of space next to the oven, the carcass of a deer-pigeon fusion animal on the counter with half of the meat sliced off. A rich smell emanates from the brick oven where several cuts of meat are currently cooking - not-quite buttery, carrying notes of spice and zest.
He'll be cooking slices of the deerpigeon as people come, plating them when the juices have completely soaked in. The meat is a bit tough, which he has tried to remedy by cutting slits in the meat in hopes that the residual fat would soften the muscle. What might stand out to others is the manner that it has been seasoned with - the meat is rubbed with butter and some oil to make up for the leanness of the meat, but there is also noticeable amounts of berry paste stuffed into the steak. The texture of the paste is much like pesto, along with how little it has been added, clearly evident that it is meant to serve as seasoning. If one licks a bit of the paste, they'll find that it's the source of the spiciness. It's a strange sort of flavour, but not entirely unpleasant - just unique. Mixed in with the paste are bits of something hard, possibly seeds. Biting them stings, like peppercorns.
Adults may be offered a glass of wine if they look like they need one. Otherwise, feel free to hang out in the kitchen while he cooks his kill. Ask questions, chat with each other, tell him stories while the temple flu isn't too intense.
Occasionally one might see him with his horns replaced by bunny ears. There's probably a reason to it but he's not telling you ]

[ He turns so that he can work on the meat now, picking up a knife. ]
Is there a part in particular you want?
[ There's lean meat and some fatty meat. He doubts Daylight would want the bones. Maybe he should grill it to medium rare, or mostly rare, so that it can be eaten. Most of the machines he met all have delicate mechanisms and it would be bad to gum up Daylight's system ]

huh. guess he didn't pay attention to that part of when auntie chris' cooking lessons.
deciding to play it safe, daylight answers with a casual, ] Oh- I'm good with any piece, really. Whatever you're willing to throw my way is cool. It smells really good so I'm, like, sure anything will be awesome.
[ honestly? he's mostly fascinated by the food from how it smells and how it's being made. he knows it'll be nothing like auntie chris' delicate, sing-song way of making meals, but there's something comforting in seeing someone prepare and prep something for themselves or for others.

I'll make you something nice. [ This he says as a sort of answer to 'whatever you're willing to throw my way', because either that implies Daylight hasn't had a lot to eat ever, or maybe that's just the way he talks.
So instead he walks over to the oven, pulling open the lid so he can check on how the stuff inside is roasting. ]
I'm cooking steak with dragonsbreath paste for flavouring. It's a spice that is native to my homeland. I hope that's fine with your... system.
[ He gestures to Daylight's entire body. ]

he's most definitely crossing his fingers and hoping for the best. he really, really doesn't want meddy getting mad at him for messing up his filtering systems again. daylight loves meddy with all his core, he does, but they can be intense at times. ]
My diet used to be a lot more bland when I first came here, since I couldn't eat a lot of things but! I've been trying more stuff thanks to the others here, and it's been expanding my horizon so... yeah! [ is it obvious that daylight is a bit chatty? is it? ]

I'll see what I can do, [ Boreas says evenly, turning to inspect the meat on the counter. If he just leaves this particular slab as it is without adding more seasoning, it should work. Hmm...

it seems he's only been eating simple, bland things. there's obviously not a lot of spices or flavours or additives in his meals. it might explain why he's so curious to watch the man prep and cook his meal. this must be the most he's ever seen someone do anything when it comes to food. ]
Can I ask where you learned to cook, mister? [ he leans forward to try and get a better look at what's going on at the counter. ] This looks super cool. I don't think I've ever seen this sort of technique before.
