( well, no. he's not going to outright argue about it. he just sort of shrugs, and when lance continues on talking about practice... well.

as the conversation goes on, he's getting a clear idea of who lance is as a person. what he's like. the boundless compassion is at the forefront of his figuring. he's like korra in that sense that mako figures he could care for just about anyone. other people's pain is just as likely to leave a mark on him as his own. and he's got an ego, but it's... maybe fragile's the wrong word, although it's the one that comes to mind. it's definitely a shield of some sort. if lance were a criminal that mako had to interrogate, you can bet damn well it's a pressure point he'd be leaning on.

as it is, there's no call for it. it's just a bit of information he files away. he also thinks it highly likely that he's a quick learner — how far he's come on his own says as much — but someone who learns by intuition and doing rather than being told. so he alters his teaching style a bit, appealing to the logistics that can then be extrapolated from. )

This one creates ice. When you're trying to shape water into its various states, think about how that form moves. Ice is more solid, so — ( he does the same motion again, a bit slower this time, accentuating the flexibility at the start, the rigidity at the end ) — when you want to create it, you have to lose the flow of water. Try the motions a few times, and then we can practice on one of these puddles.
