He hopes it's not a lie, if only because he can never tell when somebody is lying— the social cues are too difficult for him to pick up, and he ends up defaulting to belief. What a mess this situation is. ]

In any case, until we figure out anything more, it'll be better to play along with all this, I think. We'll learn more doing that, than resisting, for now.
