Who: Geir, you, & whoever jumps you
Where: braceletnet, or in person!
When: a week or two in
Rating: PG
What: a place to share and discuss everyone's first impressions of El Minha, or come feed Geir dinner, whatever you prefer!
[this is the third strange city that Geir has been tossed into by a world-traveling witch, and it's the first one where he hasn't felt fired with the spirit of exploration for the city proper. oh, he's wandered a bit, lurking on rooftops and investigating the palace -- but most of the streets here are narrow and unfriendly for a dragon. after his recent harrowing experiences before being brought to the Circle, he's not interested in most of the options for him here: there's nothing appealing about being trapped in the back alleys that surround the casinos, or pressing his way into buildings not made for him. he doesn't want to lord it over hapless little humans he has no quarrel with in the Fight Ring.
instead, he's taken wing.
El Minha is a city of traders, right? Geir knows enough about commerce and greed to know that following the money is the surest way to understanding the lifeblood of the city. as much buying and selling as he's seen in this den of shopkeepers, he's pretty sure there should be caravans stretching across the blistering sands of the Red Desert for miles. there should be guards and trade routes, oases crowded with racous and wary merchants eyeing each others' goods…
he spends several days flying over the Red Desert with the sun's weight on his back like a physical force. he finds very little of what he's expecting. there's not nearly enough water to support many traders coming overland, and few traders, period. all there is to find is a few old buildings, and tiny outposts, and red sand, and silence.
why was the city built here in the first place? where are all the people and goods inside El Minha coming from?
time to ask.]
i. braceletnet (voice)
[everyone's bracelet crackles at the same time -- Geir's still having trouble figuring out how to get video working, but voice is accessible in one press of a button.]
What's everyone found out about this place, anyway? Are we still trying to help?
[his tone is blunt, strangely indifferent to the answer but undeniably curious.]
So far all I've got is that the old King was a jerk, he got killed by someone who left Syndicate stuff all over like a signature, the new King has some kind of god-gift and likes to wander around, and I'm pretty sure that magic is the only way this place can exist here at all. What are we even supposed to do about any of that...
((ooc: please feel free to jump each other, discuss among yourselves, or assume your character overheard something Geir said for braceletnet prompts! Geir's sending this as one of those obnoxious "select all contacts" things, so everyone can hear everything unless people aren't open to that.))
ii. the Sparkling Sapphire
[it's not hard to find Geir tonight if you want to look for him in person. up until now, he's been avoiding the lodgings that the Circle has been using... mostly because he simply doesn't fit. the thought of trying to crowd into such close quarters in potentially unfriendly territory is something he's-- content to avoid, for now, though he doesn't want to examine that thought too closely.
on the other hand, the food does smell amazing, and after asking his question earlier he wants to keep a closer watch on the other members of the Circle. so he's draped like a brooding gargoyle over the whole roof, watching everyone who comes in and out with a thoughtful intensity. he doesn't speak first. if you're not expecting him to be there, you might absently pass under him without realizing just what that silhouette against the dimming sky might be.]
