Who: Noctis and you!
Where: lakeside
When: post-cavern explorations
Rating pg-13
What: the best hobby in the universe; fishing! primarily fishing, does include some swimming
a: monster of the deep?
[If one goes exploring around the lake, Noctis is back at it again with his fishing rod in hand and a line cast out - but he does seem to be struggling a bit with whatever is on the other end of his reel. Digging his heels in, sinking a bit into the muck at the edge of the lake, Noct grunts with the effort of pulling his arms back. Spying someone, or rather hearing the footsteps before he takes his attention away from the water, he turns his head with a wild sort of smile - this is exciting, despite the struggle.]
Hey! Can you give me a hand? Just give me some extra weight, let's haul this thing to shore! [He's dying to know what he has hooked; though hopefully it isn't a pissed off mermaid. They're smart enough to unhook themselves, aren't they?]
b: seaweed and seafoam
[It's finally time for a break after fishing for the last several hours, and Noct has only ditched his boots on shore when he starts to wade in. The water feels nice, and even if he can spy mermaids further out into the lake, he doesn't quite have intentions to go all that far in. Bending to scoop up a handful of water, he casts a little grin at his company and turns, giving them a light splash that feels more like a misting for how little he could throw it.]
Want to come wading? Water's fine, and it should be safe enough if we don't go swan diving.

You could say that, though adventure just seems to find me instead. [It's actually good he's the only one on the pole now, the thrill of dragging something to shore has come back now that Noct isn't ankle deep in muck.] And I just happen to like making big catches when it comes to fishing.

Nevertheless, his hands remain firmly in his pockets as he watches the line waver back and forth in the water, the splashes growing louder and more frequent. ]
Were you a fisherman in your world, then? What's the biggest catch you've had?
no subject
For sport, yeah. The biggest is probably a Grouper, huge fish that really like to hang out around sturdy solids that barnacles can grow on, since those attract it's prey. They've got the potential to grow up to eight feet, though the last one I caught was maybe four feet.. still heavy, a nice ninety pound fish.
[It wasn't for eating though, they did release it because Noct had caught many more trout and salmon earlier that day - but it was still a beast of a catch he was proud of for reeling in.]

Ninety pounds?! But... that's got to be at least as large as the average newborn hippopotamus. [ And probably just as vicious, too, as that size. ]
So was that catch a one-man job, or was it a group effort?
[ How strong is this guy, really. ]
apologies for the long delay!
I pulled it about as to shore as I could, but then it became a group effort. It's too big to handle being out of the water for too long, water really takes a lot of weight off.
[Grunting his words, giving a last heave-ho and reeling as much as he can through several clicks, the bubbles grow larger to show just how close it is to the surface - before what is definitely a crocodilian snout comes snapping through the surface of the water. Fumbling a couple of steps back at finally getting his catch to come through, Noct lets out a startled sound before yanking, stepping back and moving his pole to his left hand.]
it's okay!
Wait! Don't bring that thing to shore! If it's what I think it is... then it's going to tear us in two for sure, especially after all the time you've been spending jostling it!

It's - smaller than the ones from home, I think, and crocodile is good eating! [You know, if one can catch and subdue it. Plus, Noct says that without knowing what the rest of it looks like under the murky depths, so he does wait at the shore with his eyes on that bubble trail when the snout goes back down.
If anything, Bakura can laugh if it drags Noct off?]

If you're in the wrong about the size, then expect to be on your own... I already did my time with these bastards back home, and believe it or not, I'd really like to not go back to that particular part of life on the Nile.
[ He's just here three millennia later for revenge, man, he didn't think he'd still be running from these things!! ]
