[The shadow monster looms with its many teeth, the open-watered area around the Palace plaza adorned with the unconscious, drifting bodies of mermaids. Sharp claws and an even sharper maw, it looks for its next victim to drain the life-force from nearby; and its eyes settle upon Hank.
From a distance, at least, Connor is sure he can recognize the man by the general shape of his outline, the blearily distinguishable features of his face from this far away. That’s Hank Anderson, all right. He wouldn’t mistake the man for anyone else, and more worrisome is the fact that he appears obvious to one of these baleful shadow creatures shifting through the water behind him.
Connor pushes himself to swim faster (hates that he wasn’t designed for it, that a human-shaped body meant speed was obtainable via land, not sea), and he calls out with a harried voice that straddles the line between alarm and command.]
Lieutenant! Behind you!
[Connor’s not plucked a weapon from the armory, but he knows from tried and true experience that his power is effective against these creatures. But closing the space is the first necessity (his power won’t help with that), and he strains to do so, LED dipping into the yellow.]
wildcard-ish, lmk if this works for you!
