He is not privy to the way the creature surges forward towards Connor, to the struggle that ensues when Connor’s jaws snap hard around the shadowy being, teeth digging in. Even with whatever it managed to drain out of Arenvald, its fight against the sunlight weakened it considerably.
So, while it still tries to dig its claws into Connor, attempting to find purchase to siphon the life from him, it struggles to do so. Its movements are clunky and pained, a horrid noise issuing from its maw as it swipes and grabs and lashes out with claws that graze fur but find no hold.
It is likely not long for this world, but it won’t go out without a fight. ]
