PHASE TWO of AKVOS (Log #2)
![]() ![]() the tides shift. Darkness has begun to spread, rapidly, throughout the entirety of Akvos. Different areas of the Kingdom are plagued by different instances of terror, but one thing remains clear: the Circle does have the available tools to help . . . of sorts. Many of you have discovered different areas of Akvos to focus on, but by and large? There are no shortage of people to help, of people to fight, and of creatures to save. Hurry quickly, Circle members. Akvos needs your aid. ![]() SHADOWS IN THE DARK. Shadow creatures have begun to multiple en masse in the Depths of Markolos, and are spreading to every which corner of Akvos. They will be at their highest density in the Depths, and take the form of terrifying creatures with massive claws and gnashing teeth. They seem to be impervious to non-magical damage, so some unique tag-team action may be necessary in order to actually kill the things. ![]() THE SEVEN SEAS OF WHY. In addition to the shadow creatures, each area is plagued by a different onslaught of dark magic. Each area has different needs, and each area will require your attention. Focus your energies where able, and do your best to stem the flow of chaos before it is too late. (Check here for a breakdown of types of effective magic.) ![]() THE WHISPERS OF KEA. Throughout the duration of this battle, investigations taking place by members of the Circle will begin to unveil certain . . . clues. The Princess is still missing, but members of the Circle are getting close to unlocking where she is. King Kathashun, at the beginning of this journey, indicated that she was the key to stopping all of this, and while most of you have no idea who that guy is, he seems to be genuine. (Right? Right.)Additionally, please feel free to write up and work with your own prompts! These are presented as jumping off points for your characters, not limitations. The idea of this world- as with all the others- is to explore. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them back on the various threads back in the OOC post from before! NOTE: The Princess' messages will unlock a hint to their meaning (if they aren't solved by the time this happens) once this log hits over 750 comments. :) We are pretty sure this will happen well before the End Log for Akvos happens in January, so we won't be putting a time limit on it. ;) Have fun! |

I believe I can do more than simply slow them down. Though you may want to cover your "ears".
[Was that a joke? Possibly. She closes her eyes for a moment, visualizing how the high dragon she encountered moved. It gives him a few more seconds to do as she warned. Morrigan extends her wings fully, before letting out a shrill cry as she flaps the new appendages. The creatures stop in their tracks, looking dazed.
She shoots up above, angling herself just right, before propelling herself downward. She grabs one with her foreclaws as she passes, squeezing them tightly she'd draw blood from any other living creature before slamming them into the ocean floor.
Morrigan grins with fanged teeth. Fire spit, a stunning roar...flight. Ah yes, she could get used to this. The sound that escapes her almost sounds like a giddy laugh, if giddy could have a hint of cruelty.]
This beats flying as a crow any day.

He shuts off his audio sensors. The water vibrates around him. Thank you being a machine.
He clicks it back on. He has the mental image of his cadet days and someone, that was definitely not him at the time, cursing about the fact they had cut off the teacher mid-lecture. No one grading him this time. He twists in the water to watch the carnage being made. He helpfully fires a laser to drive a monster away from attacking her.
She grins and he opens his own jaws, grinning back at her in a Lion smile.]
Lets clear out the rest and see who needs support. [Light gathers at his jaws and he closes his mouth around the jawblade. In a burst of blue thruster fire he launches himself back into the fray.]

Morrigan sighs.] If we must. [The response sounds almost the same level of bored as she was excited five seconds ago. Ugh, helping others. That was something she did not wish others to realize she'd started growing used to. Eugh.
She fire spits on one that came close to Shiro. Before falling into what likely will be recognized as an old pattern of completely disregarding what she had just done and keeping an eye on the other shapeshifter as he joins the fray. Never once pausing her movements, but adjusting to cover his six.
Almost as if she has experience in the matter with others. Huh.]

But he never strays too far from her and always moves to make room for her bulk in reasonable distance of his. It’s simple to fall into flight formation even if he’s the only one to know them.
Shiro roars at their foe and lets another laser blast rip from him. His moves are precise as a sword stroke. He discards anything flashy he has done before. When she needs help he’s there. When she doesn’t he’s not far off and further slowing down the monsters.]

She shakes it off for now, seconding the roar with her own. Her movements become more fluid and precise as they dance, blasting fire and lasers respectively. The steps slowly becoming familiar as if something in her blood resonates with the form she’s taken.
And the only one she could ask why this is has passed. A low snarl escapes her as it dawns upon her, yet she maintains the dance. Feeling the exhaustion before energy returns upon each creatures’ demise.]

The side effects are not pleasant. He cracks his knuckles to let the sensation remind him he’s alive.] Give me a minute. I have to do something before we go.
[His head clears long enough for him to unsling the waterproof harness from his back. He flings it up and changes back. It settles into place and he stretches to test it.]
Okay. I’m good to go. I came from the west. One of the camps is that way.
no subject
She stops, blinking at herself. It's only Shiro's voice that cuts through and she growls. Curiously, she does not revert to her form. Instead watching with thinly veiled interest before stretching her newly shifted limbs, and- was that a yawn?
Yep, that was a yawn.]
Indeed? And I know the depths reside to the east. [The witch shakes her head, clearing it for a moment.] Lead the way, then.

With the magical boost he glides through the water. It gives him the speed he needs when more shadows close in around them. He opens his jaws and light blooms inside, released in a precise focused blast. He clamps his mouth shut and spins around a falling shadow so close his claws could brush their face. He tips his head and blasts their face off.]
They must have teams heading to all the camps. How’s your energy levels?
no subject
At least until more shadows appear. She blasts those in front of her with flames, catching those the Lion misses.]
T'is most curious... Ordinarily the first shift into a new form can be exhaustive if unprepared, yet I am fine... if not bored. [She mentally calculates it in a few seconds like one would the distance before flinging a spell.] I should be fine for a couple more hours if I do not attack them with my claws or teeth. Direct contact seems to sap more power at present.
[The more pressing issue is: how long until that whisper becomes louder? And, on top of that...]
...And if I shift back to my human form, I will need a break.
