PHASE TWO of AKVOS (Log #2)
![]() ![]() the tides shift. Darkness has begun to spread, rapidly, throughout the entirety of Akvos. Different areas of the Kingdom are plagued by different instances of terror, but one thing remains clear: the Circle does have the available tools to help . . . of sorts. Many of you have discovered different areas of Akvos to focus on, but by and large? There are no shortage of people to help, of people to fight, and of creatures to save. Hurry quickly, Circle members. Akvos needs your aid. ![]() SHADOWS IN THE DARK. Shadow creatures have begun to multiple en masse in the Depths of Markolos, and are spreading to every which corner of Akvos. They will be at their highest density in the Depths, and take the form of terrifying creatures with massive claws and gnashing teeth. They seem to be impervious to non-magical damage, so some unique tag-team action may be necessary in order to actually kill the things. ![]() THE SEVEN SEAS OF WHY. In addition to the shadow creatures, each area is plagued by a different onslaught of dark magic. Each area has different needs, and each area will require your attention. Focus your energies where able, and do your best to stem the flow of chaos before it is too late. (Check here for a breakdown of types of effective magic.) ![]() THE WHISPERS OF KEA. Throughout the duration of this battle, investigations taking place by members of the Circle will begin to unveil certain . . . clues. The Princess is still missing, but members of the Circle are getting close to unlocking where she is. King Kathashun, at the beginning of this journey, indicated that she was the key to stopping all of this, and while most of you have no idea who that guy is, he seems to be genuine. (Right? Right.)Additionally, please feel free to write up and work with your own prompts! These are presented as jumping off points for your characters, not limitations. The idea of this world- as with all the others- is to explore. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them back on the various threads back in the OOC post from before! NOTE: The Princess' messages will unlock a hint to their meaning (if they aren't solved by the time this happens) once this log hits over 750 comments. :) We are pretty sure this will happen well before the End Log for Akvos happens in January, so we won't be putting a time limit on it. ;) Have fun! |

[Comes the quick correction. Though he's aware of it Prompto's jesting nature, he can't stop the automatic way he immediately wants to add that extra "R" to the end of his name.
Conno isn't right. He's not Conno, the android sent by CyberLife. It's Connor.]
I'd love to hear that, though. Maybe you should start with describing what kind of monster a behemoth is?
[BACKSEAT STORYTELLER, IT HIM]
no subject
If Prompto is bothered by Connor's backseat storytelling, however, he doesn't make any sign of it. That's actually a great suggestion, and to be honest, he'll probably need others. Storytelling isn't exactly his strong suit, considering how distractable he is, and it's entirely possible — and likely — that he will get distracted on a tangent about chocobos halfway through this story. He'll need Connor on hand to keep him on task.
...Unless the kids would rather hear about chocobos than behemoths. Then all bets are off. ]
Hey, good call! [ Guess these FISH CHILDREN probably haven't ever even seen a dog, let alone any kind of land monster. ] Let's see...soooo, a behemoth is, like — this tall.
[ He raises his arms high above his head, but this is hardly illustrative of the behemoth's true size. ]
Okay, so picture something that tall, except, like, ten times taller, and with four legs and some wicked horns and a tail — oh, and a mohawk, kinda. Does that, uh, make...sense?
[ Of all the times to be missing his camera... ]
no subject
But for now, he’s a member of the young man’s audience, so much that he might as well be one of those children, as attentive as he chooses to be. New information about strange worlds will always make him listen, ever wanting to compile data about things unknown.
His chin actually tilts upwards as his eyes track Prompto’s gesture to indicate size.]
So a little more than seventy feet tall?
[Basic averaging of math, ten times larger than Prompto with his arms sticking upwards??]
Is it built more like a canine or a feline?
no subject
[ He has no idea if that's accurate or not. Hell if he can eyeball seventy feet, but the behemoth was huge, so...maybe? Probably??? Close enough, anyway. As for the second clarification, though... ]
More like a dog, but with huge fangs, too. And don't forget the moha —
[ Wait.
Pausing mid-word, his gaze slides to Connor, pressing both index fingers together as he points to the android. You know exactly where this is going. ]
Heeeyyyyy, Conno, ol' buddy, ol' pal. You can turn into a dog, right?
[ In lieu of a precise visual aid... ]
no subject
When Prompto motions in his direction, though—]
It’s Connor.
[And also.]
And yes, I can. Known species, at least, that are familiar to me, falling under the category of Canidae.
[Yes, he can see where this is going.]
no subject
...Or maybe he's just easily distracted. It's probably a combination of both these things. ]
Soooo, you know any species with big fangs and maaaaaybe a mohawk?
[ He is sure fixated on the mohawk. ]
no subject
A moment, and then:]
Do you know what a hyena is? It’s lacking the fangs, but there is a long tuft of fur that runs along its neck and upper back that might be construed as a... mohawk.
no subject
Can't say I have, but you might be right on the gil, if that's what it looks like! Is it some kinda dog?
[ And just in case he hasn't made himself clear enough: ]
Aaaaand if so, are you able to change into one?
[ do it for the kids, conno ]
no subject
[CONNOR, MAYBE YOU MISSED THE POINT
Or maybe he just wanted to draw a point of reference, the closest thing he can think of, even if he cannot transform into it technically himself. The perfectionist in him, wanting to draw forth the perfect example.
Not that it does much good with individuals who have no idea what he's talking about.]
However, would you just like to see a very large dog? I think you might have to imagine the mohawk yourself, though... I can see what I can manage, given how unusually strong our powers happen to be at the moment.
no subject
[ He butchered that in his attempt at sounding cultured and smart. Moving on. ]
A-a big dog'll do the trick! We can let imagination take care of the rest. Right, kiddos?
[ The kids, who have more or less just followed this exchange with increasing confusion, nod numbly. ]
Great. Alright, Conno, give 'em what you got!
[ Is he mostly doing this so he gets to see a cute dog? Maybe. (Definitely.) ]
no subject
Very oversized, thanks to the buff to their abilities. At least twice the height of a normal one, which means that you get to see a five-foot tall dog, Prompto. Not that this is probably very close to what a behemoth looks like at all, but here they are. Large dog. Connor barks, a low, lazy sounding thing, tail wagging in big slow arcs.]
no subject
But regardless, he can't help but go doughy at Connor's transformation, because it's been a damn long time since he's hung out with a dog, and while, okay, it's not the cutest breed of dog he's ever seen, he's still a fan of man's best friends of shapes and sizes. He coos, hands pressing to his cheeks, while the children begin to murmur excitedly. They've never seen a creature quite like this before! ]
H-heh, who's a good boy!! [ He reaches out a hand — but seems to think better of petting Connor's head at the last minute. It helps that he's ginormous and kinda terrifying, too. ] See, kids? There's your behemoth. Just add some tusks and a mohawk and youuuuu've pretty much got the idea! Sorta.
[ CLOSE ENOUGH. ]
