[Well, no one seems to have any recognition in the story at least. On the one hand that means he can't get it wrong, but on the other that just means he wants to tell it to the best of his ability. Maes nods.]

Twelve. Some people like big families I guess. Anyway, these twelve princesses were the beautiful daughters of a king. The king was very protective of his daughter. They all slept in twelve beds in one room and the king tried to keep them safe by shutting and locking the door tightly every night. However, despite his efforts every morning when he came to greet his daughters he would discover that their shoes were always ruined, worn through as if they had been danced in the whole night. Nobody could figure out what had happened or where the princesses had been.
