welcome to the horologium.
![]() ![]() welcome to the horologium. Some of you know it is coming. The World Jump, the chaotic thrust into a new universe. But some of you are new, and though you know what the mission is, it is a bit . . . troubling, sitting around and waiting for something to happen. But eventually, you get a message on your watch. It shows Astoria . . . dark hair framing her features, her voice light and musical. She sounds like herself, for the first time in some time . . . that spark of determination back in her eyes. A MESSAGE FROM YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD WITCH.
![]() THE AWAKENING. When you wake, you are greeted by metal — there’s an expanse of silver all around you. The cot you’re laying on is somewhat rigid, like a flattened wedge of cotton more than anything, encased in a capsule-like structure. Should you inspect your surroundings, you’ll find that there are three more cots in your room..or more notably, another person in the room in of itself. Depending on where you’ve been roused from your slumber, however, you’ll find that your circumstances differ. ![]() WHISPERS IN THE DARK. In a way, it feels as though you’re suspended in time. ![]() INVESTIGATIONS The ship is fitted to house approximately 500 people — it’s a bit of a ghost town, however, lived in but abandoned no less. Additionally, please feel free to write up and work with your own prompts! These areas of the world are presented as jumping off points for your characters, not limitations. The idea of this world- as with all the others- is to explore -- you may use as much leeway as you want in order to come up with what your character will do. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them back on the various threads back in the OOC post from before! |

[Interesting stories from others are the kinds of things Ren revels in, and he's absolutely taking the opportunity in a place where there's people from a multitude of different worlds to hear some new ones.]

[to further his quest for knowledge, for wanting to know about people - to place into his own archives, to retell at a later date.]

[It gives him more time to come up with something, too.]

[looking back up at the ceiling, he decides to go for something ridiculous that might send a slight shiver up someone's spine.]
This was several years ago that I recall hearing about this. Apparently, it was fashionable in one certain country to take long hair and fashion it into a sort of style where it would be piled high and kept very stiff for a number of days, since it was so tiresome to do every day. An interesting look, to be sure. Now, one woman who was the word on fashion, she of course decided to try this out. Of course, it being summer, she had no idea how long it would truly last.
It was all well and fine, except that two days later, she noticed that something had bitten her in her sleep. Going to the doctor, she discovered it was a snakebite, and that if she hadn't come in, she would have been very ill from the poison. Now, there were no snakes in her house, she was positive after a thorough inspection, and decided to write it off as a fluke. Except, the next day, there was two more. And on the third day, yet another. And there was no possible place for a snake to be hiding, except...
In a panic, she took scissors to cut off her once long and proud hair, frantically chopping it as the truth occurred to her. And when the creation fell to the ground, it fell apart, revealing not just one snake, but a whole nest of tiny, deadly vipers, all now very, very angry.
[he shrugs.]
What happened next, I'm not sure. Maybe she left the country. Maybe she was bitten enough to fall ill. Legend doesn't go that far.

That's kind of an anticlimax...though it seems silly for the snakes to bite the person that was giving them a home. Maybe they should've done something like Medusa and just made themselves into her hair, right?
[Because that's definitely how that works. Obviously agreements can be made with your weird hair snakes and their living arrangements.]

[says the man with hair that long. Medusa, though...he chuckles.]
It takes a very particular woman to live with snakes as her hair.

[He flips his hair out from under him and over the arm of the chair he's lying on. It's not quite as long as Merlin's, but...it's not that far off either, honestly.] What kind of woman do you think it takes, then? You make it sound like you know...

[he grins a little, thinking back on moments that were nothing but memory now.]

[Ren is a bit of a history buff, and while he favours learning about things like conquerors, when you go far enough back that kind of thing tends to start tying into mythology as well. And he definitely doesn't dislike learning about cool monsters and gods and stuff, either.]
