Klan Klang | Macross Frontier | OTA (Genasi Barbarian)

[a: how do formal clothes]

[Klan is a career soldier from a species that still holds war and combat in high regard, so the idea of having to go to some kind of formal dance is...a little disconcerting, to say the least. She's obviously familiar with the concept of formal clothes, but she's never in her life had to wear them, and the fact that she's still pushing seven foot even in this world, and reasonably muscular even beneath the thick layer of rocklike skin, is definitely not helping her find any formal clothes that fit.

So here she is looking bemused in front of one of the tailor shops in town, looking at a premade garment that she seems concerned about accidentally ripping considering how delicate it is.]

Please tell me they make some of these things out of stuff that isn't going to rip as soon as it touches my skin...

[b: ceremony of lights]

[This kind of thing seems a bit more like a human tradition, considering what Klan's seen them celebrate back on the Frontier, but she goes along with it. There's something about the solemnity of the ceremony that puts her at ease in some respect, makes her feel like she understands it more than she otherwise might, and while she hasn't been here long, it means she hasn't been here long enough to have forgotten the losses she suffered shortly before coming here in the first place.

So it is that she carries two lanterns down to the waterside, careful in her steps so she doesn't accidentally knock anyone else's out of their hands. One of them is turned outwards, and the wish written on the paper on it is visible: Let our colony and our new land prosper. It's strange to have been pulled away from the Frontier at that pivotal moment of finally finding a planet to settle, and she can't help but have it on her mind.

The other lantern is turned inwards, so the wish is more difficult to see, but it might just be possible if one comes at it at the right angle. That said, Klan turns a little awkwardly to one side if she comes too close to said right angle with anyone, even as she keeps moving.]

Sorry, you'd better go first, or I might put an elbow through your lantern accidentally. [That's definitely why she turned to hide the second wish.]

[c: masquerade]

[Ultimately, what Klan ends up wearing to the ball is something that doesn't bother her build too much, a simple skirt with shoulder drapes and chest connected together by thin rows of beaded decoration, the dress itself a deep pink-red. Her mask is more in line with her hair, a simple half-face shape in blue and gold.

She doesn't look entirely comfortable among the actual party, and is mostly standing next to the food table, consistently plowing through plates of the plentiful offerings there. It's making her more inclined to want to join the party, but she still doesn't really know how, and she frowns a little as she watches some of the dancing like she just doesn't really get how it works.]

Is this the kind of "culture" that everyone is supposed to know? [She sounds mildly unsure in saying it, which is unusual. Performers she's very used to, but she always considered that a different kind of skill, rather than something that people just apparently know how to do.]
