Really, do place names mean anything in the context of 'rowed for hours'? Some things were awful right across the language barrier. Ukiuvak's shoulders wince with phantom pain just remembering it.

Still, the part of his pride that feels a need to do his part of the labor is pleased by the compromise. He inclines his head in a polite nod, expressive enough despite the extensive covering of not just his face, but of every inch of him. "That seems fair enough."

Ukiuvak has always been in decent shape. Living in a society far removed from humans, he has no real gauge for if his strength is lacking or not by their standards. He also wouldn't know what name to put to Fjord's appearance, let alone what standards to hold him to. All he knows is that Fjord is being more or less polite and amicable enough.

"Are fireworks a common thing here?"
