[If Maes was feeling less guarded, he might try to explain himself better. It's not that he's given up, but he's never dealt with someone coming back from the dead. He doesn't even know how that works since everyone here -- Roy, Riza and Al -- have such clear memories of his demise. How does he change that? Can he change that? Everything still worked out in the end and what if his return changes things?

Even so, her answer does seem to still apply. He's certainly listening and as the message sinks in, his expression does seem to relax a bit. Maes had been teetering a lot lately, ever since his talk with Roy about what happened. It was easy to just 'accept' what had occurred as in the past and fixed. But did it have to be?
