Library Mingle Log

Who: Everyone!
Where: The Library
When: Throughout their time in Struxta
Rating: PG, will edit if this changes
What: The Circle gets together for some research on what this place is all about. Please treat this like a mingle log--feel free to put up a starter and tag around!

The Library (hopefully) promises to have the answers that the Welcome Committee and the general robot on the street don't. Characters can access the information by computer, and the Library has just about everything that's happened in Struxta.

That's thousands of years of information to wade through, so get to work!

[ooc: As it says above, please feel free to put up your own starter and tag around! Characters can have heard others chatting about the library or been told about it by the Welcome Committee or have just wandered in. If you come across anything of interest that you'd like me to edit into or link in the main post, please just let me know.]

That there's a lot of information, and it makes me wonder how long all of this has been around.

[Connor trying to download it all and frying himself was dumb, but at the same time, he likely couldn't have anticipated that much information being present.]

It takes a long time to document this much information. It doesn't just appear out of thin air.

Most of it looks useless, too. I don't care about who won the last however many stupid races or what kind of shit their bikes were made from. I wanted to know how this whole place got this way, and if there's even anything that isn't city on the planet.

[She's pretty frustrated with that whole effort getting nowhere fast in the real world.]

[She gives a small shrug in return.]

That's the thing about machines. If you don't build the search options into the database, it can make it hard for anyone to find what they're actually looking for.

Can you build more search options in now?

[Look, she's pretty clueless about this kind of thing, okay.]

I can try, but anything I have might not have the computing power for it, unfortunately.

[She pauses for a moment, before glancing back to one of the terminals.]

Anything I've managed to connect with has been read only, and really hard to sort through. And given how advanced this city is, I'm willing to bet any history of organic life is super buried.

Yeah. I've been out in the city searching for anything at all but there's just... nothing. Even the grass in the parks is all fake.

[It's both frustrating... and horrible, like some alternate vision from the Tree of Knowledge.]

It's awful seeing a place like this.

Really?

[That's ... interesting. Especially considering all of these organic life forms are still breathing.]

Do they photosynthesize, even though they're fake? Because while the androids don't need to breathe, obviously, we do, and I don't feel like I'm suffering from oxygen deprivation or supersaturation. I think we'd notice if they were pumping in oxygen.

I don't think so... I don't really know.

I don't think anyone other than us has had to breathe here for a long time... plants or animals.

Yeah. That's what confuses me. There must be something green somewhere if we're not dying.

[Or at least that's her theory.]

[She perks up slightly at the idea -- or at least seems a little less sad.]

That's true. It's just too bad... even with my full powers, there's so much glass and metal and pavement here that I don't think my search would have gone any better. I guess I was hoping that maybe someone here had more luck finding real life.
