There were more, once, long ago, until something went horribly wrong in a project they were involved in, only to have them all but two discarded; that's the story they told him, at any rate, but at the time 9S had been hurting too much from all his losses, too focused on his own whirlwind of problems to pry more out of them.

With their memory wiped, though, perhaps he wouldn't have gotten much more. Not as much as he could potentially get out of the person standing before him. The more they speak the more 9S wants to pick at Nier's brain; there's... so much he could ask, but it seems like Nier wishes to do the same.

In turn, 9S lowers his head out of uncertainty. The fate of their world hadn't taken a turn for the better, and he'd hate to deliver such unfortunate news, but... ]

Well, it... could be better. [ It's delivered rather flat for such an airy comment. ] Everywhere is war-torn from thousands of years worth of battles, and humans have been gone for a long time now. [ True ones having vanished even further back in time than 9S would have imagined. ] Everything they've left behind from the old world is nothing but ruins and rubble these days.
