[With the Struxta illness sweeping through the temple like a wildfire, and with so many new arrivals trying to get adjusted to temple living, it's probably no surprise that things around the Astoria's little pocket of space have gotten a little hectic. Feeling under the weather? Looking for something warm to soothe that scratchy throat? Just want to curl up underneath a pile of blankets and not move for like, seven hours or so? Never fear! A Mysterious Helper (TM) has you covered]

A. Curry in the Kitchen

[The kitchen smells extremely nice during lunchtime this week, the only meal of the day that isn't pre-prepared by the misty servants. Like the scent of coffee intermingled with complementary spices. Those who take the initiative to investigate will find something pleasant waiting for them. A few pots of fresh made curry and steamed rice; a few pots of miso soup (a. . . little on the salty side, sorry); and some freshly brewed coffee already poured into individual mugs, along with cream and sugar and whatever additives your heart desires. It's all strewn out across the counter tops with a handwritten note pinned against the wall above the stove:]

[There isn't any sign of the mysterious chef when you enter the kitchen, and if you arrive near the end of lunch hour, some of the food and coffee miiiiight be a bit cold. But hey! This might be a good chance to mingle with some of your new coworkers who are also seeking out a warm meal to help quell some of their cold symptoms. Just please don't sneeze into the curry pot, thanks. . .]

B. The Temple Hallways

[THERE ARE BLANKETS AND PILLOWS EVERYWHERE]

[. . . no, seriously. For some reason, it's like you can't even walk down a hallway without tripping over a bundled up blanket or a pillow. What's up with that! For the most part, they're normal bedtime accessories, although you may find a bundle of pillows and blankets stacked up into an ENTIRE PILLOW FORT if you're lucky.]

[Pinned to the walls of the hallways (not every hallway, but enough of them that it should be easy to find one of the signs without wandering for too long) are more handwritten signs:]

Whoever can build the tallest pillow fort will receive one (1) high five as a grand prize. Good luck. Blanket provider is not responsible for anyone accidentally falling asleep in the hallways and blocking your route back to your bedroom.

[Hm. Well, that's weird. Anyway! You can build a pillow fort if you want, grab some blankets to take back to your room, or. . . nap in the hallways. Or do whatever! They're all free for the taking. Maybe you could even team up with another Circle member to try and win that extremely coveted high five??]

Are one sided nicknames that much of a transgression? [ That sounds kind of tsun to him. Cute. Though he can sort of understand the discomfort in being nicknamed even though you've given somebody else one- not out of experience, but just the thought that one shouldn't necessarily have to return affection equal to what's received, and the other way around. ]

Maybe the obvious nickname is stupid, like "Natto." There are different ways that person can accept affection; that's not unfair.

[ What's worse is the offender here doesn't even nickname Natsume so like, ]

The nickname isn't stuPID. [ Well, of course he'd say that, he's the one who gave Subaru it— ] His are stupider by FAR. Things like "Ukki" from "Yuuki", and "Hokke" from "Hokuto", and "Sari" from— [ ...........uh. ] "Isara," I supPOSE?

I find mine perfectly reasonABLE.

[ Those really are ridiculous nicknames, but they're fun in the sense that they're different, and Minato lets some amusement seep into his expression. ]

From "Subaru," naturalLY. [ naturally. ] Yet he reviles IT.

[ And... Natsume knows why, even if Subaru acts stupid about it and won't confirm-deny it. Hmph. Let him psychoanalyze you properly goddammit how else do friends bond. ]

Isn't it because of the "-kun"? A nickname's supposed to mean you're close...

[ There's an order, he thought. Last name, first name, dropping honorifics and then a nickname? ]

We're not so close that I would deign to drop IT. I don't do so even for my older broTHERS, and they're some of the closest people to ME. [ Though Sora doesn't have one, and he Adores the youngest member of his unit, so. ] ...He has grown better with letting people closer to him as of LATE, but he still doesn't approve of others having nicknames for HIM.

[ Mumbled, sort of, but anyway, anyway— ]

On the topic of names and such, howevER. We haven't properly introduced ourselves, have WE?

[ ...Well. Friends and family are always topics that Minato awkwardly skits around and never knows what sorts of interactions and relationships are normal, but he finds himself understanding, a little, that selfish wanting to be close to people but not wanting them to be close to him.

He taps a finger to his chest. ]

Arisato, Minato. I came here with a dog. [ he's somewhere ] You might see him around- his name is Koromaru.

[ It's fine; Natsume, honestly, doesn't either. His attempts at them are clumsy at best, manipulative at worst... Not things he advertises, not things he wants now but— habits are hard, sometimes. Even if he's trying to be better so he doesn't end up like a certain someone, so that he can make people happy and give that to them, as is their right to it...

...but he has successfully provoked several people already by opening his big fucking mouth so you know!! ]

Sakasaki, NatsuME. I'll keep an eye out for your KoromaRU. [ ... ] What breed is HE?

[ Nothing good comes out of talking, and Minato can share that wisdom with Natsume. People get upset when you say rude things, imagine that. It's safer to talk about dogs- he can feel the relief lifting his shoulders slightly when the conversation settles upon Koromaru and away from personal things like names. ]

Shiba inu. He's an albino, so his fur is light grey, and he has red eyes.

[ Hard to miss ]

[ Oh... He knows exactly what he's looking for then. ]

How RARE. The one I'm familiar with is far more NORMAL, though he has the quirk of speaking like an old feudal LORD... according to his OWNER, who translates for him on the reguLAR.

[ Is that really more normal? Minato nods anyways, taking Natsume's words seriously because, as he's been told, dogs might not talk like humans do, but speech isn't the only form of communication between them and others. ]

I wonder what Koromaru would say if he could speak out loud. Your friend who understands dogs isn't here, is he?

[ Friend.............. ]

He is not my FRIEND, and no, he is NOT. Have faith when I say that's incredible fortunate for us BOTH.

That hardly matters with circumstances as they are currentLY. He isn't HERE, and to add to THAT, if you have no further business with ME... It would be kind of you to LEAVE. Potential customers may see you and think I'm currently occuPIED, which is hardly the CASE.

[ This. isn't Minato's fault, this is the fact Natsume doesn't like dissecting his own feelings in front of strangers, and there's barely any irritation in his voice despite his word choice. ]

[ It was a yes or no question!! Minato balks a bit at the reaction, but he knows when to back off, let things sit instead of prying, come back enough times that maybe Natsume will tell him on his own without being asked, someday. ]

Alright. I should go find Koromaru... and I'll stop by later. We can see if your magic works on dogs, and people seeing me as a repeat customer might be good for business.
