Don't Skip Your Flu Shot
Who: Everyone! It's a mingle post for the first week of Struxta sickness!!
Where: All around the temple
When: During the first week of the sickness
Rating PG?? At most??
What: Curry, blankets and pillow forts, and other assorted sick things
[With the Struxta illness sweeping through the temple like a wildfire, and with so many new arrivals trying to get adjusted to temple living, it's probably no surprise that things around the Astoria's little pocket of space have gotten a little hectic. Feeling under the weather? Looking for something warm to soothe that scratchy throat? Just want to curl up underneath a pile of blankets and not move for like, seven hours or so? Never fear! A Mysterious Helper (TM) has you covered]
A. Curry in the Kitchen
[The kitchen smells extremely nice during lunchtime this week, the only meal of the day that isn't pre-prepared by the misty servants. Like the scent of coffee intermingled with complementary spices. Those who take the initiative to investigate will find something pleasant waiting for them. A few pots of fresh made curry and steamed rice; a few pots of miso soup (a. . . little on the salty side, sorry); and some freshly brewed coffee already poured into individual mugs, along with cream and sugar and whatever additives your heart desires. It's all strewn out across the counter tops with a handwritten note pinned against the wall above the stove:]
Help yourself, and get well soon.
[There isn't any sign of the mysterious chef when you enter the kitchen, and if you arrive near the end of lunch hour, some of the food and coffee miiiiight be a bit cold. But hey! This might be a good chance to mingle with some of your new coworkers who are also seeking out a warm meal to help quell some of their cold symptoms. Just please don't sneeze into the curry pot, thanks. . .]
[Lunch will be laid out in the kitchen every day at lunchtime for the entire first week of the sickness. Help yourselves!]
B. The Temple Hallways
[THERE ARE BLANKETS AND PILLOWS EVERYWHERE]
[. . . no, seriously. For some reason, it's like you can't even walk down a hallway without tripping over a bundled up blanket or a pillow. What's up with that! For the most part, they're normal bedtime accessories, although you may find a bundle of pillows and blankets stacked up into an ENTIRE PILLOW FORT if you're lucky.]
[Pinned to the walls of the hallways (not every hallway, but enough of them that it should be easy to find one of the signs without wandering for too long) are more handwritten signs:]
Whoever can build the tallest pillow fort will receive one (1) high five as a grand prize. Good luck. Blanket provider is not responsible for anyone accidentally falling asleep in the hallways and blocking your route back to your bedroom.
[Hm. Well, that's weird. Anyway! You can build a pillow fort if you want, grab some blankets to take back to your room, or. . . nap in the hallways. Or do whatever! They're all free for the taking. Maybe you could even team up with another Circle member to try and win that extremely coveted high five??]
C. Wildcard
[Don't feel like interacting with any of the above? That's okay! Make your own prompt based on the event stuff over here, or just use this post for. . . whatever you want! It's totally and completely open for mingling for new and old characters alike, so. HAVE FUN ♥]

Well, enough about his embarrassment!! He'll happily drop that particular topic mostly because what this guy just said was more concerning. He wasn't ill but he felt tired from walking...?]
Well then... I suppose 'tis a good thing there were pillows strewn about. [He never thought it was terrible but... definitely inconvenient.
He pauses before continuing,] Are you unwell in some other manner? If... you do not find it too impertinent of me to ask.
no subject
Not at all. It only makes sense to question it when I'm the one who's brought it up, isn't that right? [He drops his hand back to his lap, his smile still in place.]
I've had this illness of mine since birth, you see. I was born with a weak body, a weak heart, weak lungs— I've been told since I was young that I'd only have months to live. In fact, with my immune system as it is, it's rather curious that I haven't picked up the mysterious plague that seems to be spreading rapidly through this place. I wonder why that is?
no subject
I see. That must be difficult to contend with. [He often was sick as a child so he sympathizes to some degree but his illnesses were nothing so serious. Just the usual colds and flus one gets as they grow up.
Although he does bring up a good point and Alphinaud lifts his finger to his chin in thought.]
I wonder... Written accounts of plagues do sometimes mention that those afflicted with other illnesses at the time escape the disease entirely. There are many theories as to why this is but no proof to pinpoint a solid reason. [But then his world is a bit behind on the times compared to others when it comes to medicine. Magic is always the go to for healing.]
Still... 'tis certainly a wise idea to take it easy just in case.
no subject
That's a strange thing, isn't it? When my health is poor in the winter, after all, I become more susceptible to colds and the like, but here, I wonder if I truly am some sort of invulnerable?
[Oh no, if he has that confidence he's going to be trying to run all over.]
I feel a bit better hearing that. After all, since you all seem to be feeling ill, and it's not as much of a usual thing... then isn't it my place to help? Do you have a fever, like the others?
[Anyway, he's going to help himself to trying to touch the back of his hand to Alphinaud's forehead, behind his bangs.]
no subject
But he's no expert on this at all, really. As part of his studies in curative magic he of course also studied a lot of anatomy and physiology both.... but the context was quite different when using that knowledge for healing magic versus anything else.
He's caught up in his thoughts so Eichi is plenty free to succeed in touching his forehead since Alphinaud fails to notice until he feels it. He jerks his head up in surprise and then is quick to fluster again.]
Oh, er... no, I am fine, I assure you. [Although he does feel warm to the touch but that may be more from the embarrassment. He's very easily flustered, this one.
He shies away from his hand.] But, ah... if you wish to lend a hand to aid the ill perhaps I can ask for your assistance in something?
no subject
[Getting so flustered in front of Eichi Tenshouin is like painting a target on yourself. He's drawn to it, he wants to do it more and get those reactions because they're cute and endearing— but at the very least, that quick transition into a request has Eichi withdrawing his hand without further pestering.]
A need for aid? Certainly, I don't mind. What is it?
no subject
He regains some of his composure following his question.]
I've taken to mixing medicine to help aid the ill. Although it is no cure it does help reduce fevers to give them a fighting chance. It requires a bit of work to do, however, since the medicine comes from herbs I've been collecting deep within the forest. If I instructed you on how it is made would you be willing to lend a hand? I fear the quantities needed are too great for one person alone to keep making.
[He's been managing but at the cost of his own self care. Gathering the herbs was difficult enough let alone having to bring them all back to mix it.]
no subject
[He already has this new power of his, so would this add to it? He'd like if it could.]
I certainly wouldn't mind trying. Actually, if you could show me the first handful of times, at the very least, then I believe I could master it perfectly.
no subject
But I have had an excellent teacher and after some trial and error I've gotten quite good at mixing it correctly. It is a laborious process as well so it would be appreciated. [He smiles.] And so of course I would be happy to show you first hand. I've been using the kitchen for the task because there is more space at the tables. Shall we head there?
no subject
[But, he shifts, carefully placing his hand on the wall to support himself as he works himself to stand up. It's some Effort, but he still extends a hand to Alphinaud afterwards.]
Ah, but where are my manners? I haven't even introduced myself. My name is Eichi Tenshouin. I'll be in your care.
no subject
Honestly he wishes every day he could just have his magic again for healing but he knows that's useless. It is what it is.
He watches him stand and almost doesn't want to take his proffered hand because of it but... that would be kind of rude. So he does even as he pushes himself to his feet mostly on his own.]
Alphinaud Leveilleur, at your service. A pleasure to meet you, Eichi. I shall do my best to teach you. [It would be useful to have the help at least should Eichi be willing to continue to work afterwards.
But he'll take him to the kitchen, as promised! And show him all there is to his medicine making.]
no subject
[And so, he'll follow him to the kitchen! He's a great listener, and by watching Alphinaud do the steps, he can replicate them exceptionally well. That's his talent... a talent he had to have to be successful when he was stuck in the hospital for most of his life. Watching videos and performances enough time had him perfecting moves and pieces of things that he could use himself.
It applies just as well to medicine making, thankfully. And though Eichi is a little odd and tends to ramble, he's overall pleasant and tones down his teasing for now. He can just start it up again the next time they meet, after all.]
