[With the Struxta illness sweeping through the temple like a wildfire, and with so many new arrivals trying to get adjusted to temple living, it's probably no surprise that things around the Astoria's little pocket of space have gotten a little hectic. Feeling under the weather? Looking for something warm to soothe that scratchy throat? Just want to curl up underneath a pile of blankets and not move for like, seven hours or so? Never fear! A Mysterious Helper (TM) has you covered]

A. Curry in the Kitchen

[The kitchen smells extremely nice during lunchtime this week, the only meal of the day that isn't pre-prepared by the misty servants. Like the scent of coffee intermingled with complementary spices. Those who take the initiative to investigate will find something pleasant waiting for them. A few pots of fresh made curry and steamed rice; a few pots of miso soup (a. . . little on the salty side, sorry); and some freshly brewed coffee already poured into individual mugs, along with cream and sugar and whatever additives your heart desires. It's all strewn out across the counter tops with a handwritten note pinned against the wall above the stove:]

[There isn't any sign of the mysterious chef when you enter the kitchen, and if you arrive near the end of lunch hour, some of the food and coffee miiiiight be a bit cold. But hey! This might be a good chance to mingle with some of your new coworkers who are also seeking out a warm meal to help quell some of their cold symptoms. Just please don't sneeze into the curry pot, thanks. . .]

B. The Temple Hallways

[THERE ARE BLANKETS AND PILLOWS EVERYWHERE]

[. . . no, seriously. For some reason, it's like you can't even walk down a hallway without tripping over a bundled up blanket or a pillow. What's up with that! For the most part, they're normal bedtime accessories, although you may find a bundle of pillows and blankets stacked up into an ENTIRE PILLOW FORT if you're lucky.]

[Pinned to the walls of the hallways (not every hallway, but enough of them that it should be easy to find one of the signs without wandering for too long) are more handwritten signs:]

Whoever can build the tallest pillow fort will receive one (1) high five as a grand prize. Good luck. Blanket provider is not responsible for anyone accidentally falling asleep in the hallways and blocking your route back to your bedroom.

[Hm. Well, that's weird. Anyway! You can build a pillow fort if you want, grab some blankets to take back to your room, or. . . nap in the hallways. Or do whatever! They're all free for the taking. School, of COURSE. [ of course... ] It isn't uncommon for students to stay over anyWAY... Due to the large body of work we're expected to take care OF, particularly those in my posiTION.

Huh... I don't think my school ever had enough funds or space for something like that. Everything was pretty cramped in Trigleph. [ a side effect of living in a dying land. ]

Absolutely NOT. I don't envy those burdened with the responsibilities of the student body in the slightEST. [ ... ] Though, it would be easier to harass the vice president if I WERE...

I am president of a club—Game Research—but more importantLY, I am the leader of the idol unit "Switch", Natsume SakasaKI. [ finally he gets to introduce himself properly....... ] As SUCH, it's my responsibility to look for work both within the school grounds and outside of IT.

It's nice to meet you, Natsume, regardless of the circumstances. I'm Ludger Kresnik. But, uh. What's an 'idol unit'? And why does that mean you have to work?

okay look, so, let me tell you about this idol school's cryptocurrency. ]

The pleasure is MINE, LudGER. ♪ But... You don't have idols where you're FROM? [ hmmm. well, time to explain. ] An idol unit is a group of those who perform as iDOLS. We put on shows to bring smiles to those who come to see US. Our performances and participation in events also counts towards our GRADES, as our school is one of the performing ARTS.

[ given they have a big theater club... association... thing, but most of the funding goes to idols... but there's still other performing arts but. yeah. ]

These performances and events are part of our "woRK". For all intents and purpoSES, our transcripts from our school will act as resumés in the entertainment indusTRY, should we pursue careers THERE.

Huh.

[ well! that sure was a lot. and it made sense! but also baffled him, in the way deep sea critters tend baffle the general populace. they're very cool fish! but what exactly are viewers looking at. ]

Trigleph placed more of an emphasis on desk jobs, or industrial ones. Maybe even physical training or tactics if you were planning on joining the army or becoming an Agent. Music... wasn't looked down on, exactly, but it wasn't a field most people went in to.

But to be honest, I didn't really pay that much attention to the music industry. I knew what I wanted to do, and... it's not like I have a singing voice anyways.

Indeed I DO, even if being an idol is merely a hobBY. [ even if he doesn't sound that sure about that— ] My main trADE, which I have studied from my mommy since I was a chILD, is that of a fortune telLER. ♪ I'm quite sought afTER.

What does your Trigleph think of the ocCULT?

Well. It's a little complicated.

[ putting aside the existence of spirits in his world, Ludger and his friends basically chased down any scrap of information about Origin's Trial. it led them to some pretty... startling confrontations. ]

Elympians like having explanations for thing, but whenever something happens that they can't understand, spirits or demons get blamed. It's, uh, usually not either of those. But I know both of those beings exist - I've seen them first hand.

Fortune telling though... that sounds more like a spirit arte, so if it showed up anywhere, it'd probably be in Reize Maxia. [ given that Elympians. can't use spirit artes and Reize Maxian's can. ]

I'm curious now though. What's fortune telling like? How do you do it?

[ ...hmm. sure sounds complicated. Rieze Maxia is a delightfully magical name though. ]

There are various methods of divinaTION, though the most iconic of them is through crystal BALL... Well, there's reading tarot cards as WELL, but the archetypal fortune teller character uses crystallomancy to divine the fuTURE. [ hm-hm. ] I'm fond of the same thing mySELF, though I can perform plenty of other methods of it if necesSARY.
