[With the Struxta illness sweeping through the temple like a wildfire, and with so many new arrivals trying to get adjusted to temple living, it's probably no surprise that things around the Astoria's little pocket of space have gotten a little hectic. Feeling under the weather? Looking for something warm to soothe that scratchy throat? Just want to curl up underneath a pile of blankets and not move for like, seven hours or so? Never fear! A Mysterious Helper (TM) has you covered]

A. Curry in the Kitchen

[The kitchen smells extremely nice during lunchtime this week, the only meal of the day that isn't pre-prepared by the misty servants. Like the scent of coffee intermingled with complementary spices. Those who take the initiative to investigate will find something pleasant waiting for them. A few pots of fresh made curry and steamed rice; a few pots of miso soup (a. . . little on the salty side, sorry); and some freshly brewed coffee already poured into individual mugs, along with cream and sugar and whatever additives your heart desires. It's all strewn out across the counter tops with a handwritten note pinned against the wall above the stove:]

Help yourself, and get well soon.

[There isn't any sign of the mysterious chef when you enter the kitchen, and if you arrive near the end of lunch hour, some of the food and coffee miiiiight be a bit cold. But hey! This might be a good chance to mingle with some of your new coworkers who are also seeking out a warm meal to help quell some of their cold symptoms. Just please don't sneeze into the curry pot, thanks. . .]

[Lunch will be laid out in the kitchen every day at lunchtime for the entire first week of the sickness. Help yourselves!]

B. The Temple Hallways

[THERE ARE BLANKETS AND PILLOWS EVERYWHERE]

[. . . no, seriously. For some reason, it's like you can't even walk down a hallway without tripping over a bundled up blanket or a pillow. What's up with that! For the most part, they're normal bedtime accessories, although you may find a bundle of pillows and blankets stacked up into an ENTIRE PILLOW FORT if you're lucky.]

[Pinned to the walls of the hallways (not every hallway, but enough of them that it should be easy to find one of the signs without wandering for too long) are more handwritten signs:]

Whoever can build the tallest pillow fort will receive one (1) high five as a grand prize. Good luck. Blanket provider is not responsible for anyone accidentally falling asleep in the hallways and blocking your route back to your bedroom.

[Hm. Well, that's weird. Anyway! You can build a pillow fort if you want, grab some blankets to take back to your room, or. . . nap in the hallways. Or do whatever! They're all free for the taking. Maybe you could even team up with another Circle member to try and win that extremely coveted high five??]

[It should still work regardless, he hopes. He doubts anything he mixed it with will negate the effects which are mainly to ease fevers. Although he supposes he can't be sure of that but the other herbs shouldn't have any medicinal properties...

He watches curious and then the way he freezes in place is... probably not good. He waits for a moment but when nothing happens he frowns.]

Er... are you quite all right?

[He's not moving??]

[ ...

...Slowly, very slowly, Prompto lifts the cup away and sets it down on the table once more, his face drained and pallid. He may or may not be still holding the liquid in his mouth, trying to decide whether or not it will make circumstances worse if he swallows.

...But yeah, it sure tastes pretty horrible. Why did he think starting with the worst was a good idea?!

He drops his gaze to Alphinaud at last, slowly shaking his head. ]

[Oh dear.]

Ah... That bad, is it? Well, I did warn you. [Technically, anyway. Maybe he should have been more stern about that warning.] If you are unable to swallow it at least... aim it back into the bowl.

[He won't judge, it's fine... Just don't spit it out all over the place.......]

[ Truly, Prompto only has himself to blame for this, but that's in the back of his mind right now. What's most important is getting this liquid out of his mouth before he spittakes everywhere, or barfs. He doesn't have a lot of dignity at the best of times but he's pretty sure he could never show his face around Alphinaud again if he throws his medicine up everywhere.

With a hasty nod, Prompto lifts the bowl back to his mouth, turning away before spitting the medicine back into it, then coughing to get the taste out of his mouth. ]

Augh, ughhhhh, that was....gnarly...

[ Give him a moment. ]

[Well he was at least semi-prepared for people to have this reaction. He did try it himself first after all. Once Prompto has gotten the coughing out of his system Alphinaud offers him some water. There, there...]

Yet unfortunately very useful in making one feel better... if they are able to even swallow it. So you can see the dilemma. [It really does help! He managed to get some people to take it and they showed some improvement! But... he doubts most would be able to drink it with how it is now.]

I suppose... this level of bitterness is not so easily masked. [Your taste buds' sacrifice was not in vain, Prompto. He did learn some things...]

[ Prompto takes the water gratefully, gulping it down perhaps a bit too hastily — but whatever, anything to help get this awful taste out of his mouth! ]

Eugh...w-well? Y-you're on step closer to a c-cure, I guess...

[ Insofar as that particular mixture not working. There are so many others though...

Prompto lifts a weary eye to Alphinaud. ]

I-I dunno if I have anymore in me, but...I don't wanna leave you hangin' either...

[ Not after he said he would help! ]

I supposed that's quite true. I can safely rule some things out simply based on your reaction here. [So... an effort not in vain, at least? Even if he did trick him just a little. Sorry, bro...

He waves his hand dismissively.] I will be fine. I am certain others can help and I would not wish to inflict more upon you. [The way he gulped down that water made him feel a little guilty. He'd rather not make anyone even more sick...]

So I insist that you leave it be. It might be wiser for you to rest all things considered. 'Twould seem you've caught it worse than some others I have encountered today.

[ Even if he would have been still totally willing to help, Prompto can't help a relieved sigh when Alphinaud lets him off the hook. Thank god, he really would have probably barfed if he had to try another one, aaaand that's a situation neither of them need. ]

Yeah, no kiddin'...I feel like I'm turning into a zombie! [ ...He shoots Alphinaud a panicked look. ] Y-you don't think I am turning into a zombie, do you?!

[He pauses and then leans in slightly as if to examine his face. He frowns thoughtfully.]

I suppose you do look a little... green? [He says this with such a straight face it's impossible to tell he's joking.]

[ It is impossible to tell if he's joking, and Prompto is about as gullible as they come. He swallows thickly, running his fingers over his skin as if checking to make sure he has no rotting flesh about to fall off his bones. ]

D-d-do I?! Wh-what about my eyes? Bloodshot? I-I don't wanna eat anyone's brains, b-but maybe that doesn't set in until later!

[ NOW HE'S DONE IT. ]

[Oh no this poor guy. He feels kind of bad about it but apparently not bad enough to tell him it's not possible. ... Probably.]

Surely that must be if you are not feeling that craving at the moment. [Haha... Sorry, Prompto.]

The best remedy may be to go get some proper rest. [Sounds fake but okay.]

[ Yeah, sounds fake...but who is he to argue? At least then he won't be a danger to others, maybe he can lock himself in his room and prevent the spread of zombie contamination...

Though if that's true, Alphinaud is probably gonna get it too now, just saying. ]
