[With the Struxta illness sweeping through the temple like a wildfire, and with so many new arrivals trying to get adjusted to temple living, it's probably no surprise that things around the Astoria's little pocket of space have gotten a little hectic. Feeling under the weather? Looking for something warm to soothe that scratchy throat? Just want to curl up underneath a pile of blankets and not move for like, seven hours or so? Never fear! A Mysterious Helper (TM) has you covered]

A. Curry in the Kitchen

[The kitchen smells extremely nice during lunchtime this week, the only meal of the day that isn't pre-prepared by the misty servants. Like the scent of coffee intermingled with complementary spices. Those who take the initiative to investigate will find something pleasant waiting for them. A few pots of fresh made curry and steamed rice; a few pots of miso soup (a. . . little on the salty side, sorry); and some freshly brewed coffee already poured into individual mugs, along with cream and sugar and whatever additives your heart desires. It's all strewn out across the counter tops with a handwritten note pinned against the wall above the stove:]

[There isn't any sign of the mysterious chef when you enter the kitchen, and if you arrive near the end of lunch hour, some of the food and coffee miiiiight be a bit cold. But hey! This might be a good chance to mingle with some of your new coworkers who are also seeking out a warm meal to help quell some of their cold symptoms. Just please don't sneeze into the curry pot, thanks. . .]

B. The Temple Hallways

[THERE ARE BLANKETS AND PILLOWS EVERYWHERE]

[. . . no, seriously. For some reason, it's like you can't even walk down a hallway without tripping over a bundled up blanket or a pillow. What's up with that! For the most part, they're normal bedtime accessories, although you may find a bundle of pillows and blankets stacked up into an ENTIRE PILLOW FORT if you're lucky.]

[Pinned to the walls of the hallways (not every hallway, but enough of them that it should be easy to find one of the signs without wandering for too long) are more handwritten signs:]

Whoever can build the tallest pillow fort will receive one (1) high five as a grand prize. Good luck. Blanket provider is not responsible for anyone accidentally falling asleep in the hallways and blocking your route back to your bedroom.

[Hm. Well, that's weird. Anyway! You can build a pillow fort if you want, grab some blankets to take back to your room, or. . . nap in the hallways. Or do whatever! They're all free for the taking. Maybe you could even team up with another Circle member to try and win that extremely coveted high five??]

So far I've attempted a few woodkin, a yarzon, and a morbol.. [ to terrify prompto with, mostly, though the chinchilla and nutkin were cute and handy for a prison break. ]

Yes. I flew in to the Circle from a planet that's nothing but birds. You wouldn't believe the kinda racket the car washing business has going there.

[Dave's got a hell of a poker face, sure, but all poker players have a tell. his is the way one corner of his mouth upturns like. a single pixel. also, the fact that he apparently knows what a horse is might also be a big hint.]

So I don't know what the hell any of those words you just said are.

[ ah, that singular pixel is a win in her book!! alisaie can't help but smile herself, however much she attempts to smother it.

nevermind she has no idea what a car is. ]

They are animals. Unpleasant ones, mostly, but I've yet to find a limit on what I can or cannot change into.

Are the bird horses unpleasant? That's pretty much the only one I'm interested in seeing.

Not at all, they're quite gentle most of the time -

[ ah yes, so that's what it is coming to. he really just wants to see the chocobo after all.. alisaie sighs mid-sentence, but it's a resigned sort of sound, because she cannot very well refuse him when he made her an entire gingerbread house. ]

[and this, somehow, despite the general population being caught in the throes of a robot plague, is about to turn out to be one of Dave's best days in recent memory.]

[he pretty much obliges of immediately, scooting back a few paces to what he assumes is an acceptabird distance.]

[ ugh.. ugh!!

at least she's gotten much more used to this over the time she's been here, so it's not nearly so embarrassing as it used to be, thankfully. still, she wears a withering expression - up until she shifts, at least, in a flurry of light.

where there once was girl, there now is.. birb. a pink birb, to be exact, with a red ribbon in its hair(?). she gives one dry, flat kweh. ]

[welp. kind of muted as his expressions may be, it's pretty obvious in the way he straightens, and takes a step closer, that he's highly amused and/or pleased that Alisaie obliged him here.]

[he's never been this close to a bird this big before. unless Davesprite counts. does Davesprite count? and there are emu farms in Texas, sure, but most people know better than to try going toe-to-toe with one of those — sort of like how Dave also knows better than to ask if participating in the horse activities of being a horse bird is also something she's done.]

[doesn't mean he's not capable of asking dumb questions, though.]

What? I didn't quite catch that.

[ dave!! chocosaie makes a sound that's probably a sigh, or the best she can approximate, at least. how long is she supposed to hold this form? how many minutes of embarrassment are worth the weight of a gingerbread house?? ]

[if he knew she was mulling over an answer to that question, he'd suggest .... maybe a minute for every gumdrop? which is a really mean suggestion, Dave.]

Oh, right. Kweh. Got it. [don't ... actually got it, but that's okay.]

[so ......... how badly would Chocosaie murder him if he tried to pat her on the beak.]

[ that is way too many minutes, dave!! she'll give him five more.. that seems fair..

.. even tho he's trying for a pat!! ugh, why must people always want to pet. prompto was the same. good thing she can't really blush in this form, not in a way that he can see, anyway, but she definitely looks startled. ]

[ not murdering, but she is clearly not happy!! ]

[but, lol. it was worth a shot! Dave will just move on to the next subject, cool as ever, like he didn't just try to pat Alisae's face.]

So how fast can you run?

and.. one she hasn't considered, really, given the way she tilts her head, as if deep in thought. but, only one way to find out, right? chocobos are notoriously fast anyway! i mean, people race them.

so she's off like a shot, kicking up dust behind her to run around him in a wide loop!! ]

[Alisaie is free to zoom around for as long as she likes — because the only way i can accurately describe Dave right now is this.]

[look, look, he's even smiling a little!]

[ he looks so happy.. she's pretty sure that that's the happiest she has ever seen him. which still doesn't look terribly happy but i mean, we're good.

anyway, she runs a couple more loops around him before finally slowing, and coming to a stop in front of him, panting lightly. phew. is he satisfied now.. ]
