Who: Bolin and YOU?!!??!
Where: All over the place.
When: Throughout the sickness event.
Rating Most likely will stay PG.
What: A large former-rock boy gets his bearings then becomes miserably sick. Special appearance by a small ferret.
THE WHERE-AM-I, WHAT-IS-THIS PROMPT (BEFORE SICKNESS):
[ He barely had a chance to speak to Astoria before the mysterious woman seemed to whisk herself away, off to handle some other matter of grave importance. Now, Bolin's definitely not opposed to helping some people out, but this might be the worst time to pull him. As far as he knows, his hometown is going to be destroyed by the work of a scary, domineering and possibly-insane tyrant if he doesn't get a message across in time. There is no time, and he would love to help these people out later, but he has to go home immediately!
Pabu being with him for some reason is really great and quells some of his anxiety but it's not nearly enough to put him at ease. So, he's chasing the misty servants around, trying to get one of them to speak to him. ] Wait! Just listen to me! I cannot be here! [ They seem to do a great job at evading him, phasing right through him when he tries to touch them. He spots one phase right into a door, and Bolin slams open that door. ] PLEASE!
[ It's the door to the bath? Sorry if anyone was taking a soak in there. The where-am-I prompt is now also the suddenly-naked prompt. Just pulling out all the classics. ]
THE SICK BOI PROMPT (WEEK ONE):
[ Despite how little mind Bolin seems to actively pay to his own health, he's actually the sort who doesn't get sick easily. Toughing it out on the streets as a child must have built one very strong immune system, able to take on anything. So, it's rare for him to get the flu. It's an especially bad flu too. He's sniffing constantly, and his mind is all a-fog. Even Pabu seems concerned about him, but there's nothing the little guy can really do but poke his nose in Bolin's face. ] Okay, Pabu, I know we never trained for this, but I know you're smart. [ Loud sniff. ]
Do you know what tissues are? Do you think you can find me s-s-s'ACHOO!!
[ And at once, a huge gust of wind passes by, triggered by his sneeze. Bolin's an Airbender now, apparently, and he knows nothing at all about how to be one. Two things can happen now:
1. His gust of wind is strong enough to knock your character off their feet, along with many other miscellaneous items, probably. Sorry about that. Or ...
2. His gust of wind blows his beloved fire ferret way, way up into the sky, where he lands on a ledge, barely hanging onto ... life. Sorry, Pabu. ]
STILL THE SICK BOI PROMPT (WEEK THREE):
[ And now he's slowly going blind? Hey, what the f#$% (censored because he's a nick toon). A few days into the week and Bolin's vision seems to have blurred to the point where he can make out the vague shape of things in his surroundings, but he's lost on the details. This means it's very hard for him to tell people apart until they start to speak. When he comes across a person somewhat shorter than him, who has more of a feminine build (they may or may not actually be a girl), he's quick to rush up to them and hold their face affectionately. ]
... Opal? [ No ...... ]
WILDCARD
[ OOC: yeah honestly i'm up for anything ... if anybody wants me to write a starter, give me an emoji and i'll try to ... write a prompt based on it. ]

They both kind of stare at Pabu now, waiting for him to do something, and Pabu just stares back at them with concern. He doesn't quite know what they want? Is Bolin asking him to do a trick? Eventually he just tackles Bolin's face, causing him to stumble back a few paces. ] No, Pabu, not jump! We were asking you to firebend!
[ That's probably not happening. ] Guess that's a no. [ And Bolin assumes Pidge knows what firebending is, so he doesn't explain it. ]
no subject
And just when she's beginning to question whether or not staring is going to accomplish anything, Pabu launches himself at Bolin's face, and Pidge is trying very hard not to laugh. Not because it's particularly funny so much as that it was so random and she hadn't been expecting it.] Oh man! Are you okay? That was um... a good jump, though!
[Why she felt the need to praise what had essentially been assault, she couldn't say for sure, but it felt like a good idea? Maybe?] Has he ever done it unintentionally?
no subject
Firebend? No. But jumping he kind of does all the time, especially when he wants something.
[ Even though he was thwacked in the face with a small mammal, Bolin doesn't seem to mind at all, allowing his ferret to curl around his shoulders. ]
no subject
[Because now she's invested enough in this to be genuinely curious. And she still has no idea what firebending is, but she doesn't want to ask.
It couldn't be any worse than pouncing Bolin's face. Right?]
no subject
[ Now he's curious as well. Of course he wants his ferret to have powers. He could be such a proud ferret-dad, if so? ]
... Pabu usually responds well when food is used as an incentive.
no subject
[Wait.]
You had firebending before? Do you think she'd give Pabu an ability and then not say anything about it?
[Would she do something like that?]
So if you had firebending before, what do you have now?
no subject
Actually, I was an Earthbender. My brother Mako was the Firebender. [ Casually namedrops Mako, go meet him someday, Pidge. Marvel at how obscenely tall he is. ]
But Astoria took that away, [ And he's still a little bummed out, but staying positive after some encouragement from his family. ] so now, I can do this.
[ He punches at nothing, and it seems to trigger a gust of wind. Bolin's still getting the hang of it, so he doesn't have enough control to do the cooler tricks yet. ]
no subject
Oh. That's neat! [If she was confused by firebending before, adding earthbending to the mix certainly didn't help that. Oops.]
I wonder if she does that to everyone who already has an ability who comes here. [Maybe she'll ask at some point!
But before she can say anything else, he's punching at the air and then there's a gust of wind, and she's just sort of staring because that's certainly not something she was expecting.] That was cool! Can you do it again? [She might be bouncing a little in place now.]
no subject
You think so ...? Sure. [ Unfortunately, in a bid to impress others he can sometimes make bad judgement calls. Bolin gives a leap, using his airbending to propel him higher than the physical strength of his legs would have allowed. The unfortunate thing is that he can't see too well with the sickness in his body, so he can't accurately gauge when he's going to fall back down and brace for that.
That means he lands butt, rather than his feet.] Ow. Okay. Maybe I'll try this later when my eyes are better.
no subject
I mean... yea! I can't do anything like that, and I don't know anyone else that can either. [So she's looking forward to seeing whatever else he can do. It never even occurred to her that he might be trying to do more than he should at the moment.
When he jumps, she's suitably impressed. That was really great! But then he fell, and she immediately feels guilty. ] Oh no! Are you okay? [She's just going to casually rush over and offer him a hand up.] That was really cool, but maybe you should wait until you're feeling better.
no subject
That's ... probably a good idea. [ It's a bit of a bummer because he actually wants to get a hang of his new bending as soon as possible. He really doesn't like to feel so useless in a fight. ]
Oh, but didn't Astoria give you some form of bending as well? [ Everyone else seems to have a power, so it's odd to him that she doesn't. ]
no subject
Yea... How much can you see? [Apparently not enough to realize she wasn't someone named Opal, at the very least.
That question has her pausing to consider, though.] Hmm... I don't know. I didn't really have any abilities like that back home. Unless you count being really good with tech. Or being fast? [Or piloting a big, mechanical sentient lion whose presence she misses terribly. But now she's curious. Did Astoria give her an ability too?] How did you figure out yours was different?
no subject
[ More than a little bummed. But after encouragement from Mako he's dealing with it. ]
Not that Airbending isn't great and all. I do know a lot of fantastic Airbenders.
no subject
I'm sorry Astoria took that away. Maybe there's a way to g-... Wait. You can make lava? [Because that's absolutely what she's going to focus on now. Sorry, Bolin.] That sounds really cool! Not that what you did isn't cool too. It's just cool in a different way!
[But now she's curious about what other types of bending there are, and possibly about whether or not Astoria had given her something like that.] So everyone's some kind of bender where you're from?
[And then it finally occurs to her that she's been bothering him for however long now and she still hasn't introduced herself. Oops.] Oh uh... I'm Pidge, by the way. [A shrug, and then-] Or Katie.
[It wasn't like she had to keep who she was a secret here, after all.]
no subject
My name's Bolin. It's not to meet you. [ And about the benders question: ] Well, not everyone. A lot of people are born without any bending.
no subject
[Again with the words she understood separately that didn't make as much sense together!] It's nice to meet you too. And that makes sense. Or... about as much sense as anything has since I ended up here.
[Which is to say... not an awful lot?]
no subject
It flies ...? And eats fruit? It also can't see that well. Do you not have pigeon-bats where you're from?
no subject
We uh... we have pigeons and bats where I'm from. Pigeons are multi-colored birds that are mostly considered pests because of their behavior. [She didn't really have an opinion one way or the other, though.]
And bats are nocturnal mammals that generally live in dark places and navigate via echolocation. Some of them eat fruit, but others eat insects or other things. [And that's not even considering vampire bats. But she's not trying to confuse him, so...]
I think... I'm trying to picture a hybrid of the two, and I'm not entirely sure how to feel about it.
no subject
[ Sounds like crazy talk to him. ]
Pigeon-bats do all of those things. I could draw you a picture sometime when my eyes get better. [ A bad picture. ]
no subject
[And of course now she just wants to know more about where you're from, Bolin.]
Would you? That would be great! Because I'm trying to picture what this thing looks like and all I'm coming up with is like... an odd amalgamation of fur and feathers and a beak with leathery wings...
