( the sickness: phase two )
![]() ![]() the sickness ends. the temple. The Temple, shortly after Astoria's burst of energy, is in a constant state of growth. Trees are bursting into existence from seeds in mere seconds, flowers are growing wherever magic lands . . . and the Temple is abruptly a-buzz with energy, magic crackling throughout the air. You may find a tree in your house, or flowers suddenly growing along the walls, or plants wiggling their way through the stone walls of the buildings of the Temple. All of a sudden, the place looks very overgrown. ![]() lake dona. Lake Dona is a massive body of water, stretching outward for so far that it almost seems like an ocean until you see that the water is fresh. It is surrounded by long, leafy trees that dip into the water and has a variety of ancient ruins scattered around it -- weathered stones set into circles at seemingly even intervals, old buildings that seem to mirror the Temple in construct. |

[ It doesn't sound like the definition of an android that she's familiar with at all. She was made in the likeness of humans, which included personality. Although, strangely she isn't granted a proper human name. Connor's that kind of android? It's kind of unsettling to her, admittedly.
It may also be true that emotions got in the way of her squadron's mission...
She picks up her pace, skipping ahead of Hank by several steps. Mostly because she doesn't want him to see her frowning a little. Furry round creature in the distance... ]
Is that Sumo?
no subject
[He doesn't keep trying to call Sumo that long. He wasn't expecting that to make Sumo hurry up toward them, so he's not disappointed.]
So why, then? The same reason they gave you guys memories?
no subject
[ She's partly distracted, both by the conversation and the canine in the distance.
Her foot's kind of itching to sprint right up to the animal. She's the one that wants to hurry. From what she can see where she's standing, she's... endeared by such a fluffy dog. ]
Sumo looks... he's really cute.
no subject
Yeah.
[Hank sounds proud, looking from her back to Sumo.]
Hey, if you have some food, that might make him go faster. That's the only thing he ever kind of hurries for these days.
no subject
What kind of food do dogs eat? I'll have to keep that in mind for next time.
[ Unfortunately, she doesn't keep any snacks on her handy. If Sumo's not going to move any faster to get to them, then she might have to go to him first. Before she can even think of bolting off, she looks back at Hank, thinking to ask for his permission first. ]
It's okay if I get closer to him?
no subject
Next time, uh- I don't know, he doesn't seem like he likes fruit much. He likes dairy but uh, don't give him that. I got some dogfood in my room, but that's kind of a long walk, I'm not sure what other stuff here he'd like yet.
But yeah, go wild. Just let him make the first move.
no subject
[ Thanks, Hank. She might just seek out his room someday, just to offer Sumo some food.
She continues to take a few careful slow steps forward, but keeps a gap between herself the dog, not wanting to frighten him. Crouching, she holds her hand out. Sorry Sumo, she doesn't have any food... but she's hoping he'll come over. ]
Hi, Sumo... nice to meet you?
no subject
Did your uh, your memories, do they have much about dogs in em? Like, how to play fetch and... stuff?
[Hank sounds a little hesitant, awkward at the odd and maybe sensitive topic of freaky fake memory brainwashing. But he kind of wants to know whether Sumo's living up to whatever it is she was expecting out of a dog.]
Cause uh, if you really spent all that time wanting to do shit like this, dogs and malls and whatever, and not getting to, it'd be a shame if you didn't uh, get whatever it is you feel like the uh, full dog experience ought to be.
no subject
Her response to Hank's question is slightly delayed, as she considers whether she should give him the specifics or not. ]
...I can tell you that there weren't any dogs or anything about "fetch". I can't go into complete detail. It goes against protocol to speak of our false memories.
[ Yet while it may be a sensitive subject, she doesn't sound bothered by it. It's more of an excuse not to talk about it. Command's rules don't apply to her anymore, especially for an android who should be branded a traitor. ]
no subject
Sure thing. I know how you guys are with that, wouldn't wanna violate protocol.
no subject
Soooo, are you going to show me how to "play fetch" with a dog? That doesn't go against protocol.
no subject
A robot wanting to learn how to play fetch cause it's not against the rules. What is my life, even?
Okay, so it can be kind of hard to get him revved up enough that he wants to play, but he's been outside walking around so maybe he's on his way there. I guess you could, uh... scratch him a little faster, say something to him? The main thing is that you just, uh, gotta sound excited. Doesn't matter what you say, he doesn't know. He's just got to feel like something fun's about to happen. Hype him up.
no subject
Then she pulls away, standing up. She claps her hands together, hopping up and down. ]
Aaaalright, Sumo! We're gonna play fetch!
no subject
Okay, I'm calling that progress. I'm gonna try to find a stick or something, you keep uh, getting him worked up. Your hand-eye coordination's pretty good, right, bein a robot? I know you probably haven't like, played sports or anything but you think you could throw something far enough for a dog to have to run for it without sending him charging into, like, the lake?
