PIPE WRENCH FIGHT [Open]
Who: Wash and anyone who wants to join
Where: Network and fighting ring
When: Early November, a few days before the Akvos world jump
Rating: TBD depending on thread content
What: Wash starts the Circle's first fight club. Kind of.
[This will be poster's choice - I'll put the network invitation in Wash's toplevel, but the long and short of it is, he'll be holding combat training for those who want to learn how to fight, and those who want to help teach are open as well. Feel free to make toplevels learning and/or teaching, and let me know if you need anything more or want prompt ideas!]

[ Beat's going to put all his weight behind punching the dummy in the face. He's got strength, for sure, and he's got enthusiasm but it's ... just a punch. There's nothing fancy about it and anyone trained could easily read it and block it. If he had his skateboard he'd be something else but right now he's just all brawn and nothing else.
At least he knows to quickly back away before the dummy can retaliate, backpedaling quickly. ]

I meant fight me.

[ ... Second verse, same as the first. Not that he's not aware the guy can probably flatten him but Beat has nothing else in his arsenal when he's relying on fists alone.
That is the most straight up predictable but at least unannounced vocally punch Wash has probably ever had aimed at him. ]

[Okay, then.]
[He knocks the punch aside and throws one of his own, an open-palmed blow aimed straight at the sternum.]

It earns Wash a surprised pained yelp and the teenage stumbling backwards, though at least he manages to stay on his feet. He has a good solid core and enough time on a skateboard to correct himself without falling over. ]
Ow, ow fuck, yo... [ Not mad, just OW. ]
no subject
[Well, he did say that what he knew probably wouldn't work here. Time to find out what that is.]
How do you usually fight?
no subject
Uh, you might not believe me, dude. I used a skateboard. [ He mimics rolling a board back and forth under his foot. ] And a pin that was magic an' added shockwaves to my strikes. Like, I'd do a sick trick an' smack monsters wid the skateboard and pow!
[ Pow gets emphasized with a fist into his open hand. Staring at the ground, Beat frowns a little. ]
Obviously aint no boards here, though, so I can't fight like that.

The skateboard doesn't surprise me, but the magic pin is...new. [That's one way to put it.] Honestly, I'm more surprised that you didn't break the board using it as a weapon.
I know at least one person whose power involves making things out of thin air. We could probably get you a board. [It's a hurdle to get Dave to cooperate sometimes, but he's essentially a good person and it is an option.]
no subject
You serious?? Yo, shit, you get me a board an' I can show off some real sweet moves! I ain't sure if my board got special restances [ resistances, he tried ] from my pin or jus' as part of the game, but it never broke.
[ But, as it is, he doesn't have his board yet and he tempers down some of his enthusiasm. ]
But until then, prolly best to learn how to fight wid other stuff, or wid nothin' at all but these babies.
[ Yeah those babies are his fists. He's still grinning like a dweeb. ]
no subject
Okay. You could probably get it reinforced - talk to Dave. He's the one with the power I mentioned. For now, let's work on your hand to hand. Show me your ready stance.
[Wash puts his fists up as an example - he's not going to assume Beat will know what a ready stance is, and it's easier to show than tell.]
no subject
[ He puts his fists up and it's... sort of a ready stance, but less a ready stance of I know how to fight professionally and more like he's about to curb stomp someone.
Street fighting is his thing. ]
no subject
It's a good start. Hold your fists higher - you want them about level with your sternum. That way, if someone goes for your face, you don't have to move as far to block.
