PHASE TWO of AKVOS (Log #2)
![]() ![]() the tides shift. Darkness has begun to spread, rapidly, throughout the entirety of Akvos. Different areas of the Kingdom are plagued by different instances of terror, but one thing remains clear: the Circle does have the available tools to help . . . of sorts. Many of you have discovered different areas of Akvos to focus on, but by and large? There are no shortage of people to help, of people to fight, and of creatures to save. Hurry quickly, Circle members. Akvos needs your aid. ![]() SHADOWS IN THE DARK. Shadow creatures have begun to multiple en masse in the Depths of Markolos, and are spreading to every which corner of Akvos. They will be at their highest density in the Depths, and take the form of terrifying creatures with massive claws and gnashing teeth. They seem to be impervious to non-magical damage, so some unique tag-team action may be necessary in order to actually kill the things. ![]() THE SEVEN SEAS OF WHY. In addition to the shadow creatures, each area is plagued by a different onslaught of dark magic. Each area has different needs, and each area will require your attention. Focus your energies where able, and do your best to stem the flow of chaos before it is too late. (Check here for a breakdown of types of effective magic.) ![]() THE WHISPERS OF KEA. Throughout the duration of this battle, investigations taking place by members of the Circle will begin to unveil certain . . . clues. The Princess is still missing, but members of the Circle are getting close to unlocking where she is. King Kathashun, at the beginning of this journey, indicated that she was the key to stopping all of this, and while most of you have no idea who that guy is, he seems to be genuine. (Right? Right.)Additionally, please feel free to write up and work with your own prompts! These are presented as jumping off points for your characters, not limitations. The idea of this world- as with all the others- is to explore. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them back on the various threads back in the OOC post from before! NOTE: The Princess' messages will unlock a hint to their meaning (if they aren't solved by the time this happens) once this log hits over 750 comments. :) We are pretty sure this will happen well before the End Log for Akvos happens in January, so we won't be putting a time limit on it. ;) Have fun! |

She does not have the time to be relieved when it's located, only registers that she's moving too slowly, even when flagging down one of the runners to take her the rest of the way, she's still not fast enough. She hadn't been before, either, and the idea of failing a second time makes her feel cold and helpless. She won't allow it.
The weapon, one she'd lifted from one of the soldiers too overwhelmed to fight the shadows back, is unfamiliar and too heavy. Her lack of strength was felt the most here, in this odd world underwater. But still, when she finds A4, she places herself between her and the shadows, and draws the weapon. It flickers with iridescent blue light, and when she swings it in warning, the area around it crackles with electricity.]
Get away from her.

[ A4 sounds audibly relieved, both for the backup and seeing her friend again before her eyes. It's a whole different feeling than communicating through a broken network. Though she'd been putting on a brave face the whole time, it's honestly been terrifying facing off the creatures. The position of being outnumbered and feeling helpless brought flashes of her first and last mission in her mind.
Clutching her spear, she steps forward, itching to fight alongside A2. Unlike her though, she only possesses a normal spear and knows very well how ineffective her efforts will be. Her eyes briefly flicker over to the electrified weapon, seeming to understand its use. ]
Will that work?
[ The shadows pay little attention to A2's warning, preparing to advance upon the android. ]
Careful. They're not backing down...

[She lifts a hand and crooks a finger toward the shadows, offering taunting encouragement. She'd quickly learned that her Astoria abilities didn't affect the creatures, but good old-fashioned mocking they seem to understand, and two rush toward her, dark billowing shapes in the water. She poises herself to swing the weight of the sword, made heavier through water resistance, and though it's slower than on land, she slices through both of them, sending blue lightning arcing out through the water.
A2 fights differently than she had during Pearl Harbor. There is no hesitance to her gestures, no nervousness. She doesn't fumble. She only lurches forward and brings down another shadow, and another.
In the water, there is little elegance to these movements, and so it makes it more unrefined and brutish to watch. Callous almost, and cruel, the way she'll hold and twist the blade a little longer just to hear the unearthly wail of a shadow before it dissipates.
This fight is hard to witness.]

She'd known how much her captain changed and it's become further evident in the way she fights. Stunned to silence, it's the only reason she's abiding by A2's instruction. She watches in awe, seeing how easily the shadows drop one by one. It's like watching a completely different android.
From the corner of her eye, she catches sight of another pair of shadows lurching forward after A2 from the side. It's then that she pushes herself to act, feet finally budging. Unlike A2, she hasn't changed much since then, even in combat. Still much like a new android fresh out of training from the Bunker. The Pearl Harbor mission wasn't a long one and this may very well be A4's second, real mission.
Without much thought, she rushes after the oncoming creatures with her weapon. Though there is no hesitation in her movements, her actions are spurred on by fear. No matter how different A2 is now, she's prepared to put her life down on the line for her. ]
Number 2, watch out!
