[OPEN] The trouble it might drag you down
Who: Barabas & Anyone (plus closed top levels for Shiro & Maes)
Where: Around abut the temple
When: Upon his return from his two day disappearance for a canon-update.
Rating Generally benign -- some talk of violence, battle, ...a little dismemberment.
What: Barabas went and disappeared for a few days and got canon updated. So now he's back, with a lot to deal with.
[ Open - Kitchen ]
[By the time Barabas makes his way to the kitchen, he's well aware that he'd have to drown himself in an olympic size swimming pool of chamomile to have any sort of calming effect. But as that is not an option, he will content himself to brewing a pot of it and starting there.
He looks exhausted -- there are likely still a few leaves and twigs and various other pieces of flora clinging to his hair and his clothes from his trek through the temple woods. He normally makes a point to look as put together as their situation allows. Not right now.
There's too much in his head. It feels like he's been gone for -- god has it been years? It might have been years -- a long time, but he's come to terms with it only having been days in this place. Reconciling that is taking some doing.
The redhead will look up at the sound of anyone entering to offer a weary smile and gesture to the teapot beside him.] Care for tea?

[Considering what that is and how fucking hard it is to try and remotely shift into a mid-form here. Or when she overextends herself, partially shifts, and snaps immediately back to human. It's so annoying.]
The resident bard joined me. I'm still surprised the guards fell for "two female priests walk into a prison" act.
[She grins back; it's not a friendly grin.]

[Sorry he's picturing this now and it's amazing. So they bluffed their way in-- perfect.]
So you priested your way into a prison for a jail break?
[The lawyer in him is sobbing, but the rest of him finds it terribly entertaining.]

"Maker, forgive these godless souls. They know not what they do. Spare them your wrath, and do not torment them with boils, festering rashes, and lesions..." [She grins wider.] Then they immediately went and found their captain after that and we were allowed to pass.
Though I may have incited a brawl after. What two men wouldn't do when they find they're eyeing the same person.

[Barabas can't help a laugh at that, and he nods.] And convincing honestly. I can't argue with festering rashes and lesions.
[Nor with that tactic.]
Well, given the tendency of shapeshifters to... well. Have irrational fits in their jealousy at times, I can't fault that tactic either.

He's an absentee father figure god, so honestly I would not be surprised.
And they were normal humans. I would have sensed the magic within them if they were anything else.

[A shrug of his shoulders and Barabas offers another faint smile in her direction. He's still exhausted, but talking has helped him settle into the fact that this is real and not some fever dream.]
Can you sense magic in this place, or has Astoria meddled with that capability?
no subject
[Morrigan nods, but pauses before answering; almost like she's hesitant to do so.] ...She has.
[And it irritates her to no end; it's like cutting off a sense like sight or hearing; everything feels duller than it should be and yet sharper in her other forms. Thanks, Astoria; she hates it.]
no subject
[Barabas is irritated on Morrigan's behalf. He still doesn't understand why their abilities from home are tampered with as they are, and whether or not it actually is intentional on Astoria's part.
Either way, annoying at best. Infuriating at less than best.]

At least the shapeshifting remains. Limited, though it may be. [She looks to him.] Better?
no subject
[That's right. Back to a hyena here. He laughs and nods at the question.]
More settled, yes.
[He glances to his mostly empty tea cup now before lifting his gaze to her once more to add a sincere,] Thank you.

how does she friends aaaaa.] and I meant it. Congratulations.[Both for the "we survived a dragon and its horde" and the fiance thing.]
