welcome to the horologium.
![]() ![]() welcome to the horologium. Some of you know it is coming. The World Jump, the chaotic thrust into a new universe. But some of you are new, and though you know what the mission is, it is a bit . . . troubling, sitting around and waiting for something to happen. But eventually, you get a message on your watch. It shows Astoria . . . dark hair framing her features, her voice light and musical. She sounds like herself, for the first time in some time . . . that spark of determination back in her eyes. A MESSAGE FROM YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD WITCH.
![]() THE AWAKENING. When you wake, you are greeted by metal — there’s an expanse of silver all around you. The cot you’re laying on is somewhat rigid, like a flattened wedge of cotton more than anything, encased in a capsule-like structure. Should you inspect your surroundings, you’ll find that there are three more cots in your room..or more notably, another person in the room in of itself. Depending on where you’ve been roused from your slumber, however, you’ll find that your circumstances differ. ![]() WHISPERS IN THE DARK. In a way, it feels as though you’re suspended in time. ![]() INVESTIGATIONS The ship is fitted to house approximately 500 people — it’s a bit of a ghost town, however, lived in but abandoned no less. Additionally, please feel free to write up and work with your own prompts! These areas of the world are presented as jumping off points for your characters, not limitations. The idea of this world- as with all the others- is to explore -- you may use as much leeway as you want in order to come up with what your character will do. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them back on the various threads back in the OOC post from before! |

If it was she wouldn’t have offered to fix your nose.
[She has a healing skill. That has to be why his nose is fine. He prowls along the edge of the wall with his head low to take advantage of his lion eyes.]
I can’t tell what race operated this ship yet. I’m concerned with how little we’re finding. There’s not even enough yet to tell what happened. Other than it happened quickly.

This place was inhabited, by someone. Who, we have no idea. But someone did. Clearly.
[ signs of life, however remote, are here. clothing, food . . . ]
But I don't exactly see a ton of dead bodies, or signs of a quick evacuation. So where did everyone go?

[He presses against the wall and taps his claws against the floor. He can’t tell where that damn sound is coming from save below. That is annoying but he is studying this area. He steps away from the wall.]
Sometimes I wish I was like Morrigan or Barabas and became a living creature. I could tell if there was blood here. But, if they haven’t reported the scent, it isn’t here.

he pauses, though, to shift the conversation slightly. ]
Do you trust them? Morrigan, and Barabas.
[ roy trusts barabas, because maes trusts barabas. morrigan, he's still trying to decide how he feels. but he doesn't want to point fingers, even though shiro can likely already guess hat roy's opinions of barabas are. ]
no subject
There's no sign of blood wiped away.]
I do. They've both been honest with me. And Morrigan...
[Shiro raises his head as his thoughts flash back to Morrigan's memories and the agony on her face. Her secrets whisper to him. He places his paw against the hallway floor and scrapes at the floor with his claws. Does it scratch?
It's not even a thought to just tell Roy more than he would have say to anyone outside of the circle of people he trusts. Roy is someone he too knows would have his back.]
I've seen her memories. She saw mine. She hasn't once tried to use what she learned in them. And even before that, no matter what she's said she still aided us. If she's playing a con or a plot, it's a long one. But I don't think she is.

no use in focusing on the useless. his thoughts turn to morrigan, and their conversations, and he continues walking, his pace slow. ]
I can't put my finger on her.
[ which is the frustrating part, his tone thoughtful, careful. ]
It almost feels like she's pretending, but I don't know if that's the truth, or if that's just my own perception of her. She argues for the sake of arguing, but I can be the same way.
[ he pauses. ]
My conversation with her after Akvos made me curious, that's all. I'm half-convinced she thinks I'm an idiot, which is fine by me. [ easier for him to navigate the masses if people don't pay attention to what he's doing, after all. ] But something about her just leads me to asking more questions.
no subject
But surreal experiences are just something he's long since become resigned to having in his life.]
I think anyone her age or around there thinks full adults are idiots.
[His mind drifts back to the swamp where the knights went after a child. Where the trees put a violent end to that. She's switched shapes and her memories let him change his shape. All the magic she woven and the ways she guarded herself...reminds him a lot of several people he's known and in some small vague way it reminds him of Gaelio.
That man had been so confused why he kept trying to reach him. He sees that confusion echoed in her face.]
...and she is truly a magic user. Magic users are why I am the way I am. I know them. But magic users in her world are either barely tolerated with a leash around their necks. Or killed if they were trained outside of a rigid system that's basically a prison.
Witnessing that in her memories put her issues with authority into perspective. She's as bad as Keith used to be about them.
[He pauses as an idea hits him. Keith might glare at him for it but hey, he's an in his twenties adult who is slightly bored.]
Keith makes it pretty obvious he never expected to be a leader. Salute him sometime with a yes sir. He'll have at least two seconds of shock on his face.
no subject
[ mulling that over, as he slides his hands into his pockets. thinking about it, considering it. he still has some reservations, but it does put things into perspective, a bit.
but at the comment concerning keith, roy laughs. ]
Being saluted at puts a lot of responsibility on young shoulders.
[ and being the leader is hard. roy doesn't envy keith's position whatsoever. ]
Most people saluted me as a joke, until recently. It can get hard to get used to . . . I don't know if I want to traumatize him.
no subject
[His shoulders shake as the rolling growl that serves as a laugh colors the air. Being a leader is difficult and stressful on young shoulders. He would know.]
And for what it’s worth you’re worth saluting. I think you’ll find Keith agrees with me on that.
[ He raises himself up on his back legs to peer at the ceiling. There’s got to be clues somewhere. Anywhere.]
no subject
I don't think I'm worth more or less than anyone else, in terms of saluting, but I'll take the compliment.
[ as always. he rests a shoulder against the wall, to lean, allowing his eyes to scan the hallway. curious, but seemingly unimpressed with what he finds. they're stuck here, and being trapped is uninteresting, to him. he's keen to find his way out, but roy has been with the circle long enough to know that it will inevitably go to shit in some fashion, and they need to figure it out when it comes. ]
But I think I'll do it to Keith, anyway. Test the theory and see which option I get.
