[It honestly wasn't what SHE'D expected either. Ruki lowers her hand, looking over at Shiro who had definitely picked up on the fact that something weird was going on. She huffs, straightening up and willing LightRenamon to do the same. The fake digimon flicks her tail padding over to where she can be ready to go at the door again.]

I don't need a break. I just didn't know I could do that.

[She looks over at LightRenamon, studying her for a moment.]

It was like I was her for a moment. I didn't think...

[Ruki shakes her head turning back to focus on the door. They don't have time to be discussing her feelings or whatever. They have a mission. And Ruki may think she's doing a good job of brushing it aside, but it's likely she's only ever dealt with other kids who can't see that she's being stubborn. Shiro, however, is more than welcome to see through her bull shit.]

Nevermind. Let's just get back to work.

[Shiro looks at the wall for a long moment. Like she was her summoned partner...

He turns to face her and gestures with one paw.] Not yet.

[The Paladins are psychically connected to their Lions. He believes in time with a deep enough bond between Lion and Paladin they could merge into one singular whole...the way he and Black came close to. His claws scratch on the metal.]

I have a little advice that will make this easier. If you'll hear me out. Black and I, the real Black Lion, are psychically connected partners. There was a technique I was taught to work better with my partner. I can quickly teach it to you.

[She frowns, crossing her arms. She doesn't look like she wants to do this, but her gaze drifts to LightRenamon. It's not even really her partner, but Ruki can predict what she would say in this moment. She drops her arms and turns to him. Fine, might as well get this over with.]

Look, I appreciate the advice, but it's not like this is my first time. You say you had your Black Lion, right? Well, I had a partner too. We were able to do incredible things together. When I got here...when she wasn't with me...I didn't think I'd be able to help. She shared a great power with me and I never thought I'd get to feel that again.

[She glances at the replica of her digimon.]

It's not the same...but we've shared a connection like that before. I just wasn't expecting it here.

[He inwardly sighs. That's a no on the hearing him out. He turns away from her and opens his jaws. A pale white light gathers in his mouth centered on the cannon priming itself. He could press but he's never been one to push when someone makes it clear they don't want to listen.

He lifts his head and aims at the top of the door seam.] Step clear. I don't want you caught in this blast.

[The whine of the charging beam builds in pitch and strength as the light refines itself.]

[Ruki steps back, looking a little lost in thought. She has to process a bit, but she doesn't want to be caught off guard again either. Besides, if she got too lost in her thoughts she would miss the really awesome laser show.

Which...gives her an idea to try when Shiro lets her take her turn again.]

[He focuses his thoughts and follows the data streaming through his systems. It’s like being at the controls on a deeper level. The blast comes out in a neat precise line. The blast hits the door and he draws it slowly down the seam of the door as the metal begins to glow reddish orange along the path of his attack.

He cuts off the flow of energy as he nears the bottom. He can’t risk damaging the floor of the hallway. He tilts his head slightly to the side.] Your turn.
