What: The Circle gets together for some research on what this place is all about. Please treat this like a mingle log--feel free to put up a starter and tag around!

The Library (hopefully) promises to have the answers that the Welcome Committee and the general robot on the street don't. Characters can access the information by computer, and the Library has just about everything that's happened in Struxta.

That's thousands of years of information to wade through, so get to work!

[Firo has finally made his way to the machine, though he plainly isn't comfortable using it. He hasn't even really used a typewriter back home. So he painstakingly punches each search in with an index finger, stares at the results for a second, and then kind of gives up. It's a relief to be interrupted, and he leans to the side so that Tefe can get a better look.]

That people write down every goddamn thing that happens in this dump. Other than that? Nothing much.

[Hi, Tefe, somebody's crabby even after not doing too much searching himself.]

So somebody has to have written down how the city even began.

[She sounds very certain of this, but... that is a lot of search results.]

I tried asking, but the androids aren't very helpful for the kind of things we want to know.

[Too many. Firo's just kind of aimlessly swooshing the cursor up and down the list. Fidgeting rather than actually looking--he's facing Tefe instead of the screen--at this point.

Having had a similarly frustrating experience with the androids, he's quick to nod his agreement.]

Seems awfully funny to me how they act like none of them can remember something as basic as that. If you ask me, they're probably just hoping we don't find out.

[Aren't robots supposed to know everything? That's how it is in movies, at least.]

Or whoever programmed them just assumed that they'd still be around and the androids didn't need to remember them.

[Tefé frowns at the screen full of... honestly just too much, too general. Her own assumption of course is total environmental collapse, but she hasn't even been able to find a single trace of actual 'environment' to even start with.]

What about looking up mining and manufacturing? Even robots have to start somewhere, and I haven't seen a patch of dirt around here.

I didn't even think about that. All right--

[He pecks it in exactly as she said it; predictably, the screen is once again flooded with options. After not quite suppressing a grunt of dismay, Firo'll start scrolling through.]

Stop me if you see anything. I'm just looking for something with small words.

[Admittedly she's by no means an expert; researching parts of her own past took a library and some clunky-looking old computers and newspapers, not anything like this vast collection of just... everything. Still, she's at least a half step ahead of Firo...]

No, you have to use key words, not just type in whole sentences. ....I think.

[Even then... it's still a lot to digest and how on earth to narrow it down]

What we need is someone who understands androids. How they think, and all these terms.

[He stops in the middle of carefully backspacing his search to begin again.]

You think they're that different from us in how they think about things?

[He's been having a hell of a time, but he'd chalk that all up to himself being stupid--not the androids being different.]

Well, they're not made from anything organic, so it makes sense that they wouldn't think like people do.

[She says like it's absolute truth although honestly she's not so sure. Electricity and ones and zeroes and that kind of thing. It makes sense, doesn't it?]

And if they're the ones that organized all this information it has to make some kind of sense to them.

[They're talking about robots, not homunculi, but the topic is close enough that it's nearly brushing a nerve for Firo. Not quite, but he's conscious of it. His assertion is just as confident as hers:]

People are people. It doesn't matter how they're made.

[Ennis is about as different from him as a person can be, but that's because of her personality, not because she's a homunculus.]

...Some are just crazier than others when it comes to stuff like this.

[Tefé seems a bit sceptical at that; humans and plants she can believe, both can be nice... or a bunch of assholes. She's still not sure what to think about robots.]

Well, it's obvious to me that whatever kind of people they are, the ones here didn't give a shit about living beings, otherwise we'd have found something by now.

[And mildly frustrated? Yes.]

[She does have a point, though Firo wonders if it gels with the rest of what they've seen so far.]

You think so? They seem all right with us--I mean, they still put us up and everything.

They're not threatened by us. Probably because they barely even remember what organic life is. It just... doesn't even seem important to them.

[She comments broodingly, exasperated that this is even a real situation that they're in.]

Can't really blame 'em for that. Why would it? If we're supposed to believe what that Welcoming Committee said, it's been ages since they've even seen anybody like us.

[Not that he's entirely convinced, but. That's another matter.]

Would you rather they go on the attack right away?

[And he's also not convinced that they won't... but at least for now it seems the Circle has some space to regroup.]
