( world #2 - struxta event log )

a storm approaches.
above ground.
It is early when you wake up to a message on your watches. Those underground will not receive this message, due to the complications with service. It is a simple line of text, with no further explanation given. You’re not sure how it even came through, or how they found a way to connect to the watches. Either way, a message comes across the screen.

All newcomers to Struxta are instructed to remain in their rooms until further notice.

It’s the middle of the day, on the 17th day in Struxta, that the notification rings out. Not through your bracelets, which might be your first assumption, but through what had previously been an unused announcement system. It doesn’t take much though to realize the announcement is for you - why would thousands of minds all connected to a singular consciousness need any kind of mass announcement system? No, they are talking to you. Whoever they are.

The announcement echoes through every building, street, hallway, and room in what feels to be the entire city - perhaps the entire world, and everyone above ground can hear it. It’s inescapable, really, the mechanical voice that calmly but firmly surrounds you.

All newcomers to Struxta are instructed to remain in their rooms until further notice.
Please return to your room if you haven’t already.

For those of you who are in your room, if you choose to venture out the Hostel itself will seem eerily normal. It is not until you get to the door that you see the figure - an imposing, large, mechanical figure armed with two devices. It takes up nearly the entire door, only moving aside if there is another Circle member being brought inside. Then it will return to its post. You will notice that if you approach the figure, it will not acknowledge you except to repeat the announcement.

Please return to your room.

They are impossible to sneak past, but more creative means could provide you with a way to get through. However, if they do catch up to anyone attempting to leave the premise, all they will need to do is touch a Circle member, and an electric shock strong enough to make any and everyone pass out will be administered.

If you do manage to make it past the Enforcers, the streets will feel oddly calm - like nothing has happened at all, despite the echo of the announcement around you. Do not waste time here, once you are free - the Enforcers will be chasing down any members who have gotten free, as made obvious if you choose to stay in any kind of public (and most private) spaces for more than an hour or so.

Where will you go?
below ground.
Whether it is a tip from another Circle member, or by coincidence alone, you might be able to find yourself underground. There seems to be more openings, now - all centered around the area of the Races. Doors and passageways with BG’s beckoning members in, taking them down below where even the sound of the announcement can’t be heard.

They will offer safety for anyone who was not originally part of the Tunnel Exploration, while also explaining what their fellow Circle members are preparing for. About the Storm, about their history - any of the previous questions asked here will be explained to anyone who makes the trek underground. It will take a day to get all the things in order to transport everyone to The Storm, and this will be a chance for all Circle members to regroup once they make it inside the tunnels.

They press you not to wander too far, and to instead simply wait with them in the industrial tunnels below the city, a never-ending interlocking maze of wires, pipes, and metal. It’s dark, dusty, and definitely not comfortable. But one thing it is, they explain in their glitchy half-sentences and partial thoughts, safe.

The Mass Consciousness has apparently deemed you a threat, and are systematically working on a solution to the problem. There’s no telling what they might do.
wildcard.
This is your world to explore. Something has tipped the Mass Consciousness off to a possible issue, a possible threat. What you do with this new status is up to you. Outside of the Hostel, the natives will completely ignore your existence, like you have been entirely erased from their reality. The only ones who seem to notice you are the Enforcers, and the BGs.

For those who have decided to investigate, and hopefully put an end to, The Storm, the log will be posted tomorrow (July 28th 11:59 PM EST). ICly and OOCly you will have one more day to prepare. Please be on the lookout for that log, as the description will include what you will find and what you can assume! We will also continue to take questions over at the OOC Post through the course of the event.

I never get into trouble.

[ ;)

but then, roy shifts the conversation, just a little -- a private one, just between them, so alphonse and riza can't see it. ]

I'm sure people will have preferences. If they insist, they can make their own way. People who can't hold their own in a fight should get out first, after Riza and Alphonse. They can manage the civilians on their own.

Try not to appear in her room without announcing yourself. I'll tell her you're coming.

It's a private message. You don't have to lie.

[You DO get into trouble Roy. All the time. Even more so since he left you it seems. And he's still not sure if he's heard ALL of it. Not the point now though so he won't press about it.]

Right. Wouldn't want to startle her.

{ there's half a laugh, to himself. ]

You know me well.

They repeatedly told me to go to my room, so I'm currently in the lobby. Brigadier General Hughes has the ability to get some of us out of here, but there are a lot of us stuck in here. Not everyone went to explore the underground.

Fine. I don't purposefully seek out trouble when it isn't advantageous to whatever I'm attempting to accomplish at the time.

[ there, mom. ]

She'll be fine, once she's out of this building. I'm going to go talk to her now so you don't have to convince her otherwise.

[ riza will likely argue with him regardless, but once roy convinces her to leave first, she won't argue with maes. ]

[ lotor can appreciate the attitude, and he lets the snarky comment slide in favor of what wash says next. an entrance to the underground sounds like a good plan, and lotor, indeed, is inclined to get there. however: ]

I have people I care about above ground, still -- but I will follow you there, to remember where to go until I can locate them. Being in pairs is smarter than being alone, at any rate. We have no idea what we're dealing with.

[ allura, though, is likely off doing the same thing this person is. heroes and good people are the worst. but lotor quickly follows after wash, his sword in hand. just in case. ]

Have any of the androids attacked you, or has anyone caught you being above ground and punished you for it?

yeah, i gave it a shot. they stopped me just like the rest of them, but i think i could run past them
that's my ability btw if that helps!
i can run
like really, really, really fast

[ Which...means if he's going to help anyone else get out, they're getting a piggy-back right, but you know, whatever it takes. ]

Diplomacy isn't working, huh?

[Keith may have been watching this exchange, waiting for Roy's escort to leave before piping up. Keith is pushing his luck as well, and trying to figure out the best way to make a break for it -- and get everyone else out in the process.

Because staying in their rooms on house arrest does not sound okay at all.]

[personal profile] lonered 2018-07-31 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
No. But whatever it is, I'm sure it's what the Witch dropped us here for.

[They're still stuck reacting to things, and it's driving Keith crazy. Second world in a row everything went to hell, and for all their preparations and investigating, they're still scrambling around.]

A bunch of people went exploring the underground, right? I wonder if it's related to what they found.

Trouble was my plan for getting out.

[Trouble tends to be his plan for a lot of things. But.]

You have another option?
sonofgold: (listening)

[personal profile] sonofgold 2018-07-31 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I really don't blame them. But I don't think I'd be content being stuck, myself.

[Wash is at least a familiar face, so at his approach he is immediately recognized by both Allura and, in tandem, the Lion, though its form still crouches low. There's an ever-present growl rumbling from it, buzzing with Allura's own energy.

It's still something she's getting used to, this shielding figure, but it responds to her with ease.
]

Wash...is that it? It is good to see you. [She sounds relieved, moving from where she stands to follow him.] Did you escape from the hostel as well?
juniberries: (armour; you're saying i suck...)

[personal profile] juniberries 2018-08-01 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[It's taking some used to, seeing him like this. Broader, scarred...the general aura about him different.

But for whatever reason, it's easy to fall into step with him, especially with things at such a tense high both in this world and their own personal. She's glad they found each other; she was worried once out they wouldn't be able to convene.
]

The lockdown aligns too much with the discovery to not be related. [She frowns, the phantom-like Lion meanwhile circling around both Keith and Allura, a preemptive sheild for anything that may try to get in their way.] It would be too much of a coincidence otherwise.

I'll take it.

Thanks. That should make it easier.

[He has some ideas of what to add to help with the convincing as well, but he doesn't want to exactly share that with Roy at the moment.]

[Unheard, because this is text, Maes gives a tired sigh. This is exactly what he is worried about.]

Trouble is not a plan, Keith. It's a goal at best. And not even a goal that usually aligns with the goal of 'getting out of a predicament.'

[Now if Keith had given something more detailed like 'I'll cause a distraction and then use that time to get people out through this convenient tunnel' THAT would be a plan. But, no, he literally just texted 'trouble' and that was it.]

The ability I was given is teleporting. It's pretty easy to pop into the rooms of the hostel since their goal is to keep us IN and then they can't really do anything to stop me from getting to various points outside of the building.
lonered: (S6-29)

[personal profile] lonered 2018-08-02 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
[That's okay. Keith is laughing. It's like he can hear the sigh through the text. Sorry, Maes.]

Trouble's just the theme of the plan. These robots aren't all that different from what I'm used to fighting at home. If I can hold them off and give people a chance to get out, then I'm all for it. It'd have to be coordinated, but trouble can work pretty well.

But like I said, if you have another way, then I'm all for it.

[And oh. He does, huh?]

Huh! So you're just like my wolf.

But. That does sound useful, and better than just trying to muscle our way out.

[ there's a slight yanking straight of his coat as the androids leave him be, returning to his post -- a scowl in place with a huff, aggravated. the constant shuffling of people to rooms, of hiding information, is not strange to him. and it's the familiarity that has him so frustrated. ]

No, it seems not.

[ how annoying. roy tugs his (useless, but still on out of habit and a sense of security) gloves a little more firmly on his hands before sliding his hands into the pockets of his coat, irritated. ]

They want us to remain indoors, at all costs.

At least a quarter of our numbers, then. Good.

Keep me updated on any changes, including changes in the robots. We can't be caught off guard again.

And be careful.

Oh the plan has a theme now. This just keeps getting better.

[Okay, enough with the sarcasm. Keith apparently understands what he's doing better than he's letting on.]

A wolf? Where did you find a wolf that could do that?

Actually never mind, that's not important right now. Yes, I'm using it to get people out now. If we coordinate it could make it easier for me to clear the hostel and then I can get you...if you need it anyway. I assume during all your trouble you also have a plan for getting OUT of the trouble.

On the back of a space whale riding on the edge of a quantum abyss where space and time have no real meaning.

[But yes, focusing now.]

I'll be happy to provide a distraction while you get people out. Not a problem.

Of course I have a plan for it. More trouble.

[...he might be deliberately messing with Maes a little now. He's grown up recently, matured, but Keith is still Keith.]
dadandgone: (Duty Calls)

closed to roy mustang; sometime later...

[After Maes has taken care of the people he's responsible for, he sends a message off to Roy to give him a heads up that he's going to be 'popping' back in his room. Under normal circumstances it's fun to catch his friend off guard, but this has taken a turn for the serious so for the moment Maes will refrain from catching any one by surprise if he can help it.

He's learned by now that if he doesn't have a specific location in mind, if he thinks about the person he wants to get near he can appear near them instead. It's handy for sure since it means he doesn't necessarily have to know where he's going.

Maes doesn't waste time and a few minutes later he's popping into existence at Roy's shoulder.
]

Our people are clear. It about time we got out of here too.

prior to escaping the hostel.

[personal profile] unpatriarchal 2018-08-02 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
(1) escape the hostel . . . attempt number one.
[ lotor is not one to be told what to do.

attempt number one at leaving the hostel through the front door was a predictable failure, but that was really more to test hte boundaries of the prison than to actually succeed. nothing happens to him, then, so lotor then proceeds to explore the outskirts of the hostel. avoiding the rooms, exploring the lower areas. but every single door seems to be guarded by enforcers. you can find lotor near the kitchen area, earlier in the day, looking frustrated as he seems to be examining the panels in the walls.]

There has to be a way . . .

[ is he literally planning a jailbreak lotor you're like seven feet tall baby girl what is u doin ]
(2) escape the hostel . . . attempt number two.
[ later in the day, lotor is caught again, but this time, it's attempting to escape through one of the service elevators. and, once he is countered by a robot who lotor expects to tell him to go back to his room, he speaks: ]

I'm simply attempting to understand what, exactly, is --

[ . . . but this robot seems less inclined to listen, and reaches out to grab an arm. lotor immediately reacts by moving to draw what appears to be a sword at his hip, but the enforcer's palm sparks, and lotor's arms immediately go limp, the shock apparently knocking him out of commission for a few precious moments as the robot effectively drags him back to his room.

you can either catch him at his room, or catch him when he starts to stir mid-way -- but he's definitely not going to be moving anytime soon, until he can get back to his room. ]
(3) escape the hostel . . .text it??.
{ the following message is sent to the entirety of the circle: ]

Do not let them catch you escaping.
They do not treat you kindly.
Who has managed it, thusfar?

[ oops? oops. ]
