WE'RE ALL SICK HERE [OPEN]
Who: Kainé and you
Where: Various locations.

first week) [ getting sick so quickly sounds fake. there's no way someone like kainé can get sick, or so she believes because she is a healthy young woman who has eaten decently. sort of. there's a small cough here and there, but she's certain it's just before this place sucks. it's dying after all! or it looks like it is.
she sniffles a little, but besides that, she's acting as if she isn't getting sick at all. instead, all of her focus is on the temple that she has now found herself in. the area of the temple at least. ]
Does anyone take care of this place? Everything looks ... far from alive.
second week.) [ if you go to the fighting ring, it totally doesn't look like there's a woman ready to pass out. her body is grossly covered in sweat, which can be from her fighting in such an aggressive manner or because she has gotten sicker and hasn't bothered to actually sit her ass down since the start of it.
staggering for a moment, she presses her hand against her forehead with her free hand (her other one is holding a single sword) and groans out loudly. What a fucking pain in my ass. Stupid... shit... [ her attention perks up in a second though and kainé's body stiffens, seeing movement from the corner of her eye that makes her heart stop for a moment and -- throws her sword at whoever is approaching her, not realizing that it's a person and not a creature from her past. sorry. ]
third week.) [ now she isn't dying so much, kainé is actually seen in the kitchen area. she's actually in a place that has other people in it and she isn't staying away from them all. after she has taken a mouthful of her food, she presses her lips together and frowns.
don't mind her as she turns to face you, shoving her bowl directly in your eye of sight. ] Taste this for me.
second
it hurts, in a way. seeing her again. but there's an inexplicable warmth that floods his heart no less.
he recognizes her voice, even from a distance, well — and the fighting circle is his grounds as much as it is hers. there's a flash of metal, and he only sidesteps quickly enough to evade any lethal ramifications.
instead, there's just the tip of a sword lodged into his thigh now. okay. that's cool. he pulls out it on reflex, like a moron, crimson staining his clothing. ]
Kainé!
[ with a slight limp and gnashed teeth, he makes his way over to her with haste. ]
Hey. Take it easy. You need to get some rest — I'll carry you back...just relax, alright?
no subject
kainé has a moment where an expression of horror flashes over her face. it doesn't last for very long because it's his own damn fault for not being careful when someone is using a weapon. (actually, she shouldn't be throwing her sword in the first place, but that's minor details she won't stress about.)
she opens her mouth to say something snarky, only to be stopped when she lets out a violent cough. ]
You don't need to carry me, I'm fine. You're the one that needs to be carried.
[ she waves her hand towards his thigh while covering her mouth, coughing just a little more. she's totally fine. ]
no subject
[ and he says that sincerely — in spite of the blood, he draws closer, caring little for the distance between them for lack thereof. before you know it, a hand settles onto her shoulder. ]
But you aren't. Come on.
[ he gives it a pat, his other arm extending as he attempts to position himself for the eventual carry. ]
You need to rest.

Did you seriously just ask me to taste test something for you?
no subject
[ because that's classy. ]
Yes, I want you to taste test this for me. [ she promises she has not spat out any food back into this nor has to put anything into it that isn't what was in the kitchen. ]
no subject
[ Not because of her attitude, but... ]
A king isn't supposed to taste test food for commoners. Why are you so scared of it?

[Again.]
Why? What's wrong with it?
[Why does this keep happening to him]

[ she shoves it even closer to him and wears a blank expression, just wanting for him to take a try of it already. why are people so scared to try food?? ]
first week
If there is anyone who takes care of this place, they're doing a bad job of it.
[He raises an eyebrow at the cough she has but he isn't acting like she's got the plague or anything.]
Have you been living here a while? Or?
no subject
Just rocked up. Sort of. [ It has been a day or so at the very least so it, as she would put it, it isn’t like she’s brand new. ]
You?
[ Tickle her curious. ]
no subject
Same. Guess we're stuck in the same boat.

week 3
[but he tries to make do. he tries not to make his increasing irritation with the situation as the days go by known to anyone but himself]
[and so! in the kitchen today, Kaine shoves the bowl of food into his line of vision and Akira nearly rears back in surprise. he doesn't reach out to take the bowl from her, but he keeps his expression carefully neutral]
Is it poisoned?
[Akira]
no subject
[ It is such a blank and emotionless response which is just like the expression she is wearing because do people just give out food that is positioned??? ]
Just try the damn thing and tell me what it tastes like.

( week 2 )
And when he's upset, he only really knows how to handle it one way, and that's by physically blowing off some steam. The fighting ring is exactly the way he remembers it and seems to even be occupied. Not that he can get a peek at the other person because the next thing he knows there's a blade soaring right toward him. Gladio's skilled enough to be able to dodge it, knowing he doesn't have his shield at hand. Hand against the hilt of his own blade, he stares them down--
Oh shit oh fuck
she's hot
and she's barely wearing any clothes]
Uh.
[Gladio stands there wide-eyed and kind of speechless for a moment.]
You good?
no subject
That is what Kaine is wondering when she finds him just staring at her, eyes looking wide as if he saw something that is a surprise, shock or horror. Boys are so stupid sometimes. They see a girl who is ready to kick their ass and their jaw drops for one reason or another. ]
Fan-fucking-tastic.
[ Being all grumpy, she does make her way towards Gladio with a scowl as an expression. It's a relief that he didn't get hurt though because that would be awkward for her. Hurting strangers isn't on her to do list when they haven't done anything to hurt her.
Yet.
Kaine doesn't slow down with the transition of her walking to bending over and picking up her sword, doing it all in what looks like one swift moment. Not that it is a good idea for her to move so quickly as she gives a wince, feeling a little dizzy. ]
no subject
Well that's a friendly response, but then again, Gladio is looking pretty damn stupid right now. Picking his jaw up off the floor after a quick second he shifts right back into action, stepping aside to give her room to pick up her
weapon but remaining close in case she wavers.]
Looking like the complete opposite of that, honestly. [He's not sure if he should say that with any degree of humor but it comes out like that anyway.]
You get hit with whatever got passed around here? People left and right are sick as dogs. Probably a better idea to take it easy.

A new disease she can fight. It's the old one that was going to kill her.
She's not going to just wait this out and sit and rest in her bedroom, though; that'd be far too frustrating to even consider. Too passive, and there's no Grace or Alto or Ranka to yell at her for being out of bed now. She'll use the opportunity to explore, and to take her mind off things.
Which is why she's here, in what looks like some sort of combat arena. Not really her place. Sheryl turns to leave--
--and drops to the ground as the gleaming sword she'd seen thrown whirls overhead, slashing at the space she'd been occupying just a second before.
It would have been nice had her drop been cool and poised, but she's in no shape for that; she just happened to fall on her ass with enough quickness.] What the--?! You could've killed me!
no subject
yet.
she didn't freak out at all. ]
Be careful next time.
no subject
Oh no, she didn't. Sheryl climbs to her feet, hand steadying herself against the walls as the room threatens to spin--] Excuse me? You almost killed me, and that's all you have to say for yourself?
"Be careful" when I walk into a room? What, in case there's some other crazy bitch inside throwing swords at people?!

Cheerily, he calls out: ]
You should be more careful, that could really have done some damage!
[ Nevermind that that was probably the idea. The woman looks... very angry. For the moment, Cain should probably keep his distance.
Of course, Cain doesn't do that. Instead, he jogs over to her, to check to see if she's okay, instead. ]
no subject
[ She's totally acting as if everything went to plan. Resting a hand on her forehead, she lets out a sign. The beads of sweat that formed feel so gross against her skin and it doesn't help that she just feels so sick still. ]
What are you doing? [ Don't normal people run away or avoid the place when a person has gone a little nutso with their weapon? ]
no subject
[ He's not even keeping a careful distance. Instead, Cain crouches beside her, taking in the sweat, the flushed skin, the glassy-eyed stare, even if she's still glaring at him. Sure, she may have been exercising. Or trying to murder him. But she's clearly also under the weather. Which means she's out here pushing herself too hard against the sickness that's affecting everyone. ]
Maybe I should get you some water... You could probably use a break, and your weapon's stuck in a tree now, anyway.

What he'd accomplished was a bowl of questionable soup, which he'd foisted onto Kaine. Which she was now tasting herself. And didn't seem to approve of.]
Oh...is it really that bad?
[He'll just...take the bowl back and take a sip from it, raising the rim to his lips. Ah...]
I think I made it too salty...I'm sorry.
no subject
this isn't going to plan. ]
It isn't that. Ugh. I bet it's fine, probably salty enough for me, but, I can't taste it. [ she might as well be honest with emil. she actually is a little upset that she can't taste the food that he went through the effort to make her.
but, it could be a blessing in disguise. ]
