the temple of beginnings.we're all a little mad here.
Needless to say, the Circle has been out of sorts as of late.
Fortunately, the weather has stabilized — residents will find that they are no longer plagued with snowstorms or heat waves. However, it appears that the flora and fauna have...come to life. Vines may wind around your feet and legs, entrapping you in a vice-like grip. They will eventually let go, but it seems like you need to speak nicely to them first. Bizarre, but it'll get the job done.
Mushrooms have also sprouted and now sing at you when you pass by — they aren’t particularly good singers either. Trees extend their branches to poke at you from behind, but when you turn around you’ll find that no one is there.
...And worst of all, the flowers seem to be especially privy to your thoughts; when you’re close, they’ll blab out whatever is on your mind at the moment and will only be silenced once they are picked. Best of luck surviving in this more, er, animated environment! Perhaps even plant-life can be reasoned with…? Or destroyed.
That’s always an option, isn’t it? oh my god they were roommates.
It isn’t a proper welcome until you’ve picked out your room! In the hallways, you may find a table or two offering cookies and tea as you survey your newfound surroundings. They seem to be left by invisible people . . . weird? The Unseen Servants seem to be playing a bit more nicely from your arrival, and seem to be apologizing for their antics with sweets! (These cookies, neverfear, are not magically cursed. They are just normal cookies.)
These rooms are a bit magical, you see — should you decide to room with another person (or multiple people), you’ll find that the room itself will accommodate your needs and expand accordingly. They look the same for the most part, so some might say that it would be wise to make your decision based on what your neighbors are like.
Say hello or potentially someone else’s room by accident; it’s a bit of a Russian roulette.
Regardless, it seems that this is your new home in sense of the word. Make the most of it! wildcard.
The Temple is a pretty big place! The Forest of the Fey stretches on endlessly, Lake Dona (and the resident Nessie) is free to explore, and there are plenty of creatures who are curiously inspecting the new arrivals.
The wyverns seem to be particularly precocious today, given the singing mushrooms, the psychic flowers, and the new people checking into new rooms! They are relatively harmless (as are most of the creatures in the Temple), but can be pretty annoying . . . especially if you have something resembling a snack in your hand.
At any rate, free to explore the rest of the Temple, the Forest, or the Lake at your leisure! Unless otherwise designated in the bestiary, everything is free to play/free to explore. :)

wildcard.
The thing about these old buildings, though? They're not quite. Case in point: the door creaks, and quite loudly at that. When Lucina pushes it further open, it's basically akin to a gong announcing her presence.
The room itself is fairly ordinary, nondescript. Lucina hasn't done anything to it in the past few months, except for an oft-erased-and-edited bit of chalk graffiti on the leftmost wall:
Lucina: 42.
Ephraim: 42.
One thing is different, though. The sight of a blonde woman she's never seen before, and - wait, are those black hairs on Lucina's bed? You know what, she'll worry about that later.
Gently, she asks, ]
Are you lost, miss?
[ At the tail end of her words, the room shifts. It's difficult to describe, but it's as if the ground beneath them moves, roils, changes trajectory. The lingering effect is a mild aftershock, causing Lucina to waver slightly on her feet but ultimately remain standing.
It's different now, though. Where there was once one bed in the centre of the room, there are now two beds: one at the far wall, one by the window.
Well, then. ]

who...aren't so dead, after all.
before the woman with blue hair walks in, yang's actually inspecting the wall, reading the names "lucina" and "ephraim" with curiosity. it's not hard to deduce that these were--are?--probably the people who lived here. she feels like she should leave, in case they come back, but...
welp. it's too late now.
yang looks at the woman--lucina, maybe?--like a deer caught in headlights before she stands tall, maybe a little too tall, smiling sheepishly. ]
Oh--uh, yeah, actually? I just got here and looked for shelter and...well, y'know, wound up here.
[ she laughs weakly, right before the room starts to shift. okay. what on remnant is happening, goodness. there are two beds all of a sudden??? ]
Mmmmaybe that's a sign I should leave.
no subject
It's alright.
[ Juuuust to be on the safe side, however, Lucina checks the chest at the bed by the window. As she's doing so - ]
Have you only just arrived? It can be quite disorienting. Her Grace [ that's Astoria ] isn't always gentle with her arrivals.
[ Nothing in that one. Damn. Closing it, Lucina goes to check the chest by the other bed. ]

[ yang has a million questions, and while she's kind of just...used to rolling with the punches, this is a little out of her realm of experience. plus she's feeling kind of awkward because she literally just walked straight into a stranger's room? w h o o p s. ]
Look, I promise you I didn't steal anything. My, uh... [ ... ] My mom was here, too, and we thought this place was abandoned, so we were just investigating. No big deal.

You're in the Temple of Beginnings. I suppose you can think of it as our barracks.
[ Opening the second chest, she peers into it - phew. Everything is accounted for.
Looking a bit more relaxed now, Lucina gives Yang her full attention. To be honest, it's equally odd (awkward?) having someone else in her room. A lady just doesn't do that! Yang is likely her first guest, intended or otherwise. ]
My name is Lucina. This is my room, you're correct. However, since you are here, I can try to answer whatever questions you may have. [ Or help her find her mother? ]

[ it's not the fanciest place, but at least astoria was nice enough to provide beds for them? she sees the relief on lucina's face when she opens the second chest. everything's just as they were before! ...probably. ]
I'm Yang. Nice to meet you--sorry about barging into your room like this. [ her smile is sheepish. lucina, huh? that would explain one of the writings on the wall. ]
We can move somewhere else, if you want? [ since it's a little awkward, since yang's just...here. uninvited. ]
no subject
[ Turning a bit, she peeks out the window. ]
It seems the weather has stabilised. How about a walk? I can point out the important places. We're actually quite well stocked here.
no subject
[ important places in her case meaning training grounds, where important resources are...good food...priorites. ]

Outside, they're all in a cluster, some of them the one-room equivalent of townhouses, attached by like walls. Some bigger than others, housing multiple people. ]
These are our living quarters. No matter how our numbers may grow, no one is ever without a bed to call their own.
[ A thoughtful expression. ] - I suppose we've just seen the magic behind such a thing in action.
no subject
[ which is going to take some getting used to. such a thing shouldn't exist, back on remnant. but yang's seen what it can do with her own eyes. it's amazing...but it also terrifies her in a way she can't quite explain. ]
And your room just added another bed, right?
no subject
[ It's a bit odd to Lucina that Yang would need that confirmed when they just witnessed it, but she doesn't press the matter. A world without magic feels downright nonsensical to Lucina - but perhaps there are many here who would feel te same way inside of Ylisse.
Moving them away from the little cluster of "homes", she'll ask - ]
Is something the matter?
no subject
[ there's a reason why yang asked. she looks a little sheepish for a second, but quickly shakes it off and looks over at lucina with a smile. ]
I know this is probably a long shot, since I kinda just broke into your room and all, but... I need a place to stay, so would it be cool with you if I took the other bed?
[ ...wait. she remembers the writing on the wall. there was another name on there, wasn't there? ]
I mean, unless you already have a roommate? Oooor if this just too weird, I get that, too.
no subject
[ An ill-timed pause as she directs Yang down a bend in the path and toward the kitchen and dining area. Lucina continues - ]
That is, I have no roommate to speak of. [ She isn't sure where Yang would have even gotten the idea, conveniently not finding anything suspect in her little scoreboard. Having slept in barracks that didn't differentiate between sexes, it wouldn't strike her as too odd to share - except, in this case, it would be very odd - that's her, uh, her friend!! - and so on. ]
I cannot guarantee I'll be very fun company but you are welcome to stay.
[ A small smile as punctuation. ]
