( intro log # 1 )

the temple of beginnings.
we're all a little mad here.

Needless to say, the Circle has been out of sorts as of late.

Fortunately, the weather has stabilized — residents will find that they are no longer plagued with snowstorms or heat waves. However, it appears that the flora and fauna have...come to life. Vines may wind around your feet and legs, entrapping you in a vice-like grip. They will eventually let go, but it seems like you need to speak nicely to them first. Bizarre, but it'll get the job done.

Mushrooms have also sprouted and now sing at you when you pass by — they aren’t particularly good singers either. Trees extend their branches to poke at you from behind, but when you turn around you’ll find that no one is there.

...And worst of all, the flowers seem to be especially privy to your thoughts; when you’re close, they’ll blab out whatever is on your mind at the moment and will only be silenced once they are picked. Best of luck surviving in this more, er, animated environment! Perhaps even plant-life can be reasoned with…? Or destroyed.

That’s always an option, isn’t it?
oh my god they were roommates.

It isn’t a proper welcome until you’ve picked out your room! In the hallways, you may find a table or two offering cookies and tea as you survey your newfound surroundings. They seem to be left by invisible people . . . weird? The Unseen Servants seem to be playing a bit more nicely from your arrival, and seem to be apologizing for their antics with sweets! (These cookies, neverfear, are not magically cursed. They are just normal cookies.)

These rooms are a bit magical, you see — should you decide to room with another person (or multiple people), you’ll find that the room itself will accommodate your needs and expand accordingly. They look the same for the most part, so some might say that it would be wise to make your decision based on what your neighbors are like.

Say hello or potentially someone else’s room by accident; it’s a bit of a Russian roulette.

Regardless, it seems that this is your new home in sense of the word. Make the most of it!
wildcard.

The Temple is a pretty big place! The Forest of the Fey stretches on endlessly, Lake Dona (and the resident Nessie) is free to explore, and there are plenty of creatures who are curiously inspecting the new arrivals.

The wyverns seem to be particularly precocious today, given the singing mushrooms, the psychic flowers, and the new people checking into new rooms! They are relatively harmless (as are most of the creatures in the Temple), but can be pretty annoying . . . especially if you have something resembling a snack in your hand.

At any rate, free to explore the rest of the Temple, the Forest, or the Lake at your leisure! Unless otherwise designated in the bestiary, everything is free to play/free to explore. :)

[ It's lucky that Ryoko's not necessarily put off by tall people-- even though in this case, Konoha is very. Very tall. She's a bit surprised, but that's just about pushed away instantly when she sees her friendly face. ]

Oh, yes! Hi, it's nice to meet you. I'm Ryoko--

[ Uh... it looks like she's having some trouble there. ]

Do you need help with the fruit?
lumberlady: (手伝う)

[personal profile] lumberlady 2019-02-08 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
[Just under seven feet! ... A little more, if you count the large bun of thick black hair tied on the top of her head.

Though she's used to meeting a lot of people now that don't look like the humans she's familiar with from her world, Konoha is a little pleased to see that Ryoko looks like, and her name sounds like, the people who populated her version of Japan. The clothes, maybe not, but.]

I'm Konoha. I stay just down the hall.

[To demonstrate that she doesn't need any help she easily hefts the basket up a time or two before tipping it more Ryoko's way with a small smile.]

I'm alright, but. Do you want one before I start drying them?
loveedition: (are you backing out now?)

[personal profile] loveedition 2019-02-09 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, sure! I appreciate it, Konoha.

[ With that, she goes right ahead to step forward and pluck an apple out of the basket, and is surprised when she looks further in the doorway, and...

Oh. That's definitely not a body she expected to see. A... centaur?

Ryoko gawks a bit before turning her attention back to the apple. ]

Ah, uh... th-thanks. [ A beat. ] So you... you're with us too?
lumberlady: (恥ずかしいな)

[personal profile] lumberlady 2019-02-10 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Konoha sort of misses the gawk, busy trying to shift the basket a bit in her arms to display the best of what she had- fresh apples, grapes, persimmons... a good sample of foods she'd enjoyed from her own world. She'd heard about some exciting foods from other people here, but... no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't make her powers work on things she couldn't picture perfectly.]

You don't need to thank me. I'm not a fighter or a scholar or anything like that, so I just try and take care of this kind of thing.

[Food. Shelter. Comforts.]

I've been here, um... More than half a year now, I guess.
loveedition: (you're probably right.)

[personal profile] loveedition 2019-02-13 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
[ It all looked pretty appetizing too; it was nice to see normal food, it made her feel a little at ease. Plus, Konoha's demeanor was only helping her relax that much more.

Right. There wasn't really any reason to treat her different after all. It was just surprising initially, but at this point, it's easier to get used to. ]

Hey, that stuff's really helpful. Not everything revolves around fighting, you know.

[ Which, hopefully she's not going to be expected to fight here too. That'd be nice. ]
lumberlady: (恥ずかしいな)

[personal profile] lumberlady 2019-02-13 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, I know. I do a lot of other stuff to help out.

[Konoha tries to smile a bit brighter despite how dulled she'd become in the aftermath of the return from Akvos. At least her voice sounds sincere- She did know.

She just also knew that what she did wouldn't be what got them out of here. Kept them safe. Returned them to their worlds.

... If they'd ever get to do that.

Shaking her head a bit at herself to try and clear the negative thoughts away, Konoha instead latches on to another question. It might be a long shot, but... with the name and appearance...]

Where are you from, by the way?
loveedition: (oops. left the heater on.)

[personal profile] loveedition 2019-02-14 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
[ Though she didn't know about it yet, she'd definitely be able to relate to that. Wanting to smile despite the worst coming to.

Still, at the question, Ryoko hesitates. Where was she meant to say?

...Maybe, the blanket answer would be best. ]

Oh, Japan. [ A beat. ] A small town in Japan.
lumberlady: (元気)

[personal profile] lumberlady 2019-02-15 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah- I knew it!

[Konoha perks up in excitement almost immediately, leaning forward over her basket, expression openly curious and hopeful. She's met a few people from Japan since coming here, at least, a few people who had names that sounded like the world she knew, but- Almost everyone was from... Some other Japan.

But still...]

I'm from Tateyama, in Echigo! Do you know it?
loveedition: (that's how kids are these days.)

[personal profile] loveedition 2019-02-16 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
You're from-- what?

[ Honestly, the first thing she thought was "She's really from Japan?" But, that thought falls from her head when she considers it. Different worlds, different Japans. That makes sense. ]

S-Sure I do! I've just never been.

[ As she hopes in the back of her head that Konoha doesn't ask any follow up questions on her home town. ]

Were there a lot of people like you back home, then?
lumberlady: (かわいい)

[personal profile] lumberlady 2019-02-16 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
Echigo Province!

[Konoha is almost too eager to supply clarification, visibly pleased when Ryoko says that she knows what she's talking about.]

You mean jinba? Not so many in my village, but in the city there's way more-

[Which... probably meant that even if she knew Tateyama, it might be just like what everyone else from Japan she's met has said so far-]

Does your Japan not have jinba? Just humans?
loveedition: (wh...oh. sorry.)

[personal profile] loveedition 2019-02-18 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, just humans. [ Ryoko felt like she might be bursting her bubble a little at that, but couldn't really tell. So, she's quick to clarify-- ]

Ah, but it's not like I haven't met non-humans before! I met a few before I got here, and they were all really nice. So, I'm not scared or weirded out or anything!
lumberlady: (聞こえた)

[personal profile] lumberlady 2019-02-18 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Thankfully Konoha is used to that answer by now, so she's stopped being terribly disappointed- just a little disappointed. But.]

What do you mean non-humans? Like... dragons or something?
loveedition: (ooooh.)

[personal profile] loveedition 2019-02-20 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah well... not dragons, no. [ At least, she doesn't remember any dragons.

Ah! ]

Well, wait, actually! There was a little lizard like boy that I met before, I never asked him if he was a dragon, he might have been!
lumberlady: (考える)

[personal profile] lumberlady 2019-02-21 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
A lizard boy...

[Konoha tries to think if she's seen any lizard people running around in the Temple, brow furrowing in concentration... But she can't, so-]

I haven't seen one of those, but I guess there's lots of other people I don't know about from my world. We only have humans and jinba, so.
loveedition: (well; that was pointless.)

[personal profile] loveedition 2019-02-23 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm, it was the same for me for a while. Where I came from, there were only humans. Aliens or monsters or anything, those were just fictional characters in books and manga.

Aside from the lizard boy, I also met a little boy that looked like a goat, and... ah, a demon.

[ Though, less said about her the better. ]
