the temple of beginnings.we're all a little mad here.
Needless to say, the Circle has been out of sorts as of late.
Fortunately, the weather has stabilized — residents will find that they are no longer plagued with snowstorms or heat waves. However, it appears that the flora and fauna have...come to life. Vines may wind around your feet and legs, entrapping you in a vice-like grip. They will eventually let go, but it seems like you need to speak nicely to them first. Bizarre, but it'll get the job done.
Mushrooms have also sprouted and now sing at you when you pass by — they aren’t particularly good singers either. Trees extend their branches to poke at you from behind, but when you turn around you’ll find that no one is there.
...And worst of all, the flowers seem to be especially privy to your thoughts; when you’re close, they’ll blab out whatever is on your mind at the moment and will only be silenced once they are picked. Best of luck surviving in this more, er, animated environment! Perhaps even plant-life can be reasoned with…? Or destroyed.
That’s always an option, isn’t it? oh my god they were roommates.
It isn’t a proper welcome until you’ve picked out your room! In the hallways, you may find a table or two offering cookies and tea as you survey your newfound surroundings. They seem to be left by invisible people . . . weird? The Unseen Servants seem to be playing a bit more nicely from your arrival, and seem to be apologizing for their antics with sweets! (These cookies, neverfear, are not magically cursed. They are just normal cookies.)
These rooms are a bit magical, you see — should you decide to room with another person (or multiple people), you’ll find that the room itself will accommodate your needs and expand accordingly. They look the same for the most part, so some might say that it would be wise to make your decision based on what your neighbors are like.
Say hello or potentially someone else’s room by accident; it’s a bit of a Russian roulette.
Regardless, it seems that this is your new home in sense of the word. Make the most of it! wildcard.
The Temple is a pretty big place! The Forest of the Fey stretches on endlessly, Lake Dona (and the resident Nessie) is free to explore, and there are plenty of creatures who are curiously inspecting the new arrivals.
The wyverns seem to be particularly precocious today, given the singing mushrooms, the psychic flowers, and the new people checking into new rooms! They are relatively harmless (as are most of the creatures in the Temple), but can be pretty annoying . . . especially if you have something resembling a snack in your hand.
At any rate, free to explore the rest of the Temple, the Forest, or the Lake at your leisure! Unless otherwise designated in the bestiary, everything is free to play/free to explore. :)

o/ happens to us all
No...? They're not really doing anything except hugging my legs. Isn't that right?
[He directs that to the plants, which uncurl a bit but then curl more tightly again, as if they're kind of reluctant to leave now that they're being treated nicely already.]
See? It'll be fine. It's kind of a nice welcome, don't you think?
no subject
Well...if it makes you happy, I guess. As long as they don't squeeze too tight.
no subject
[He tilts his head slightly, back in the direction of the temple. He was wandering through earlier, and it seems like it's already well settled by other arrivals.]
no subject
And yeah. I ran into a bunch of people who've been here for a while. It's...kind of worrying, how long they've been stuck here.
[ months. hopefully that won't turn into years. ]
Are you holding up okay?
no subject
For now, though, he bobs his head cheerily at the question.] Oh, I'm fine. It's not like it's been that long yet...and I've got at least one friend already.
[He brings his hand up to pat at the head of the cat draped around his shoulders. The cat responds by stretching slightly - pushing one of its paws into the side of his face a bit as it does - then flopping back to sleep again.] What about you?
no subject
[ way too long, honestly. she has things she needs to do back at home. and she's still worried sick about her friends and her sister, more than anything. it's going to make it hard for her to sleep tonight.
though...she does look at the cat on his shoulders, and smiles. ]
Aw! Look at you, little cutie! [ don't mind yang! she's just going to lean over and look at the cat for a moment. she loves animals. but she won't touch it, so as to not disturb it from its nap. ]
I'm okay, all things considered. [ she pauses before offering him a grin. ] I'm Yang, by the way. What's your name?
no subject
He's much happier to think about his cat instead of that, though, and he smiles a little as he rubs behind the cat's ears. It doesn't seem to be waking up under Ren's attention, at least.]
Oh, I'm Suzugamori Ren, but just Ren is fine. Your name sounds like it suits you, I think. [It's also short, and Ren has a tendency to turn any name that isn't short into a nickname, so it's an advantage in some ways when dealing with him.]
no subject
[ she even does jazz hands when she says magic. this whole situation is just so ludicrous to her and a part of her still doesn't believe any of this is happening. but it sure is. she'll get used to it...eventually.
at his comment, though, she smiles. ]
You think so? [ she lets out a little chuckle. ] I like to think it does, too. My dad likes to call me Sunny Little Dragon.
no subject
[So there's a precedent that people return and that they return to the same point they left. It's a reassurance, in a way. As are the jazz hands that come with it.
At the mention of Yang's nickname, Ren bobs his head rather delightedly in agreement.] Your hair does look a lot like a dragon's mane, I thought. And it's definitely a sunny sort of colour.
[He flicks his own hair a bit - it's about the same length as Yang's, and thick and messy as well, but it doesn't have quite the same sitting volume as hers does.]
no subject
[ just throwing that out there in case he needs a buddy or something who knows what they're doing. ]
You think so? [ yang grins and...does a hairflip. wow. ] Thanks. I like it a lot. Yours kind of reminds me of a dragon, too--maybe not a sunny one? But something cool.
no subject
With Yang setting the level for silly hair maneuvers, though, Ren tilts his own head a bit and flips his own from one side to the other in a rather dramatic motion, still wearing that wide smile.] Maybe I'm a shadow dragon instead? It's a bit dark for fire...or even an abyss dragon would be cool, too.
[He gives an amused little hum after that, as if pleased with the idea. In actuality, he's enjoying the private joke that a significant amount of the otherworldly creatures he's possessed in his fights over the years have been actual abyss dragons.]
no subject
[ abyss dragon makes him sound like a bad guy, and he doesn't seem like one. ...probably. yang, who was once incredibly trusting, feels a little more wary around strangers than she used to be. but she wants to believe the people here aren't bad. ]
Sounds cooler, don't you think?
no subject
[He shrugs a little. Either he doesn't see the evilness in "abyss dragon" or he just doesn't really care if it sounds like that as long as it also sounds cool. It helps that he's on pretty good terms with his inner darkness at this point, so to speak.]
It'd be cool if the power I'm supposed to have here had something to do with that, but I guess I'll have to wait and see for that part...
no subject
[ she holds out her arm and balls her hand into a fist. ]
Dragon buddies?
no subject
I think that's a cool enough title to have between us~ [He sounds pretty pleased with it himself, though his hand goes back to nursing the plants around his legs once he's fistbumped her. They seem to be loosening slowly, at least.]
no subject
[ yang's fistbump, on the other hand, isn't gentle at all. she may have knocked him a little more than he would've liked, but that's just how she is. whoops.
but she sees him turning his attention back to the plants. ]
So... You're really okay staying here with the plants, huh. I guess I'll leave you be?
no subject
As for the matter of the plants, he waves a hand.] It looks like they're going to let go before too long, so I'm okay with hanging around them until then. Maybe it'll make them less likely to find other people to hug.
[He's still absolutely framing this whole situation in a very bizarre way, but that's just how he rolls. And it's usually funnier for him.]
