Needless to say, the Circle has been out of sorts as of late. Fortunately, the weather has stabilized — residents will find that they are no longer plagued with snowstorms or heat waves. However, it appears that the flora and fauna have...come to life. Vines may wind around your feet and legs, entrapping you in a vice-like grip. They will eventually let go, but it seems like you need to speak nicely to them first. Bizarre, but it'll get the job done. Mushrooms have also sprouted and now sing at you when you pass by — they aren’t particularly good singers either. Trees extend their branches to poke at you from behind, but when you turn around you’ll find that no one is there. ...And worst of all, the flowers seem to be especially privy to your thoughts; when you’re close, they’ll blab out whatever is on your mind at the moment and will only be silenced once they are picked. Best of luck surviving in this more, er, animated environment! Perhaps even plant-life can be reasoned with…? Or destroyed. That’s always an option, isn’t it? oh my god they were roommates. It isn’t a proper welcome until you’ve picked out your room! In the hallways, you may find a table or two offering cookies and tea as you survey your newfound surroundings. They seem to be left by invisible people . . . weird? The Unseen Servants seem to be playing a bit more nicely from your arrival, and seem to be apologizing for their antics with sweets! (These cookies, neverfear, are not magically cursed. They are just normal cookies.) These rooms are a bit magical, you see — should you decide to room with another person (or multiple people), you’ll find that the room itself will accommodate your needs and expand accordingly. They look the same for the most part, so some might say that it would be wise to make your decision based on what your neighbors are like. Say hello or potentially someone else’s room by accident; it’s a bit of a Russian roulette. Regardless, it seems that this is your new home in sense of the word. Make the most of it! wildcard. The Temple is a pretty big place! The Forest of the Fey stretches on endlessly, Lake Dona (and the resident Nessie) is free to explore, and there are plenty of creatures who are curiously inspecting the new arrivals. The wyverns seem to be particularly precocious today, given the singing mushrooms, the psychic flowers, and the new people checking into new rooms! They are relatively harmless (as are most of the creatures in the Temple), but can be pretty annoying . . . especially if you have something resembling a snack in your hand. At any rate, free to explore the rest of the Temple, the Forest, or the Lake at your leisure! Unless otherwise designated in the bestiary, everything is free to play/free to explore. :)

[ Oh, thank god she's laughing. Laughing is usually a good sign, right? Not an I'm-going-to-punch-you sign. A little nervous laugh escapes him in return, because even if a mushroom broadcasting his thoughts is not exactly awesome, laughter is always infectious.

He waves his hands in front of himself, palms out. ]

Hey, believe me, I get it! The 'do is sacred. I wouldn't even dream of touching your hair.

[ She already thinks he's a weirdo, THAT WOULDN'T DO HIM ANY FAVORS. ]

Soooo, you believe me about the mushroom now?

[ it's a good sign indeed. once yang's done establishing that the hair is not to be touched, she smiles and folds her arms across her chest. ]

Glad we've come to a mutual agreement.

[ guy looks like he styles his hair, and yang gets that it isn't something to be messed with. ]

And yeah, I do. Just don't let me change my mind, yeah? [ she smirks a little before she walks up to approach him, extending a hand. ]

I'm Yang. Just got here not too long ago.

[ A mutual reverence for the sanctity of stylish hair — they do indeed have a deep understanding on this. Even if it's a little thing, he relaxes, far more at ease now than he had been a handful of moments ago. Maybe the mushroom busting his thoughts wasn't such a bad thing after all...

...As long as it doesn't decide to say too much else, anyway.

One corner of his mouth tugs up into a lopsided grin as he reaches to shake her hand. ]

Nice to meet'cha, Yang! Name's Prompto. I, uh...got here pretty long ago. [ Since the beginning in fact. ] That is, if you need, like, an orientation? I can give it a shot. Most important — I can show you where the kitchen is and how to summon a sweet lake monster.

[ So, the good stuff. ]

[ it definitely worked out, in this case! thanks, mushrooms. yang has a pretty strong grip when she shakes his hand, and when she pulls away, she puts her hands on her hips and raises an eyebrow. a part of her is afraid to find out just how long he's been here, and she can't ignore the knot forming in her stomach. but...he's also really friendly, which makes this a lot easier to process. ]

I got one earlier, but summoning a lake monster? [ she grins. ] I'm in!

[ ...she'll address her worries eventually. right now? lake monster. ]

[ Don't worry — he'll save telling her how long he's been here for later, because he knows full well that, "hey, I've been here for eight months and long enough to see all my friends come and go" probably isn't...the most encouraging things to hear. Most people also don't stick around as long as he has, but — that doesn't exactly sound great, either.

So — focusing on the lake monster it is! Better for both of them, honestly. ]

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! [ He turns down the path, jogging a little in place as he waves for her to follow him. ] C'mon. The lake's just a little down this way. Oh — and don't mind the mermaids. They cool.

[ And...a little traumatized, but file that under "things to get to later". ]

[ heck yes. she knew there was a reason why she liked you, prompto. yang follows him right away; he's a little fast, but she can keep up just fine! ]

Mermaids! ... Wait--oh, you mean...

[ shiro mentioned them a little while ago. she's not sure how to approach the subject... seems like a lot of people didn't really take it too well. ]

[ They sure didn't take it well, and Prompto is definitely among that group. He can tell where Yang is going with that when she trails off, and for a moment, he...isn't sure if he should pursue it or not. If she already knows, then there's no point in holding back, but he also really isn't in the habit of bringing up things that are so negative.

...Still. It's important, even if it puts a damper on the mood. ]

Um...so, yeah. They're...refugees from the last world we traveled to.

[ The one that no longer exists. ]

Yeah. Someone told me about them earlier.

[ she frowns and glances off to the side. she feels bad for bringing it up, and prompto's tone is somber. yang decides to put this conversation on the back burner, and turns back to him with a smile. ]

But hey, lake monster. What kind of ritual are we performing to summon that bad boy?

[ In some ways, it makes it easier that she already knows. It means he doesn't have to dump the whole burden on her, even if he wishes the new arrivals could be greeted with better news. But -- as long as she knows, it's better to focus on Nessie, anyway. That's some good, harmless fun. ]

Oh, it's a very deep and mystical art. Handed down through generations of...lake monster tamers. Which I am one of.

[ He's not, and his cheesy grin just confirms it. As they reach the shore of the lake, he stops by a tree and hops on a lower branch to snap it off with his weight. (......It's a small branch.) ]

We gotta lure it in with the goods.

[ he totally isn't a lake monster tamer. yang rolls her eyes, but she smiles. ]

Sure you are.

[ but it's all in good fun. even though prompto decides to hop onto the branch, yang just walks so she's just slightly in front of him. ]

What's...the goods?

[ ...He's not half as confident as he sounds. What if Nessie isn't a good mood today and decides to ignore his offering? Please work with him, lake monster...

Approaching the shoreline of the lake, Prompto steps up onto an outcropping of rock and shakes the branch in the air. Nothing happens...yet. ]
