( intro log # 1 )

the temple of beginnings.
we're all a little mad here.

Needless to say, the Circle has been out of sorts as of late.

Fortunately, the weather has stabilized — residents will find that they are no longer plagued with snowstorms or heat waves. However, it appears that the flora and fauna have...come to life. Vines may wind around your feet and legs, entrapping you in a vice-like grip. They will eventually let go, but it seems like you need to speak nicely to them first. Bizarre, but it'll get the job done.

Mushrooms have also sprouted and now sing at you when you pass by — they aren’t particularly good singers either. Trees extend their branches to poke at you from behind, but when you turn around you’ll find that no one is there.

...And worst of all, the flowers seem to be especially privy to your thoughts; when you’re close, they’ll blab out whatever is on your mind at the moment and will only be silenced once they are picked. Best of luck surviving in this more, er, animated environment! Perhaps even plant-life can be reasoned with…? Or destroyed.

That’s always an option, isn’t it?
oh my god they were roommates.

It isn’t a proper welcome until you’ve picked out your room! In the hallways, you may find a table or two offering cookies and tea as you survey your newfound surroundings. They seem to be left by invisible people . . . weird? The Unseen Servants seem to be playing a bit more nicely from your arrival, and seem to be apologizing for their antics with sweets! (These cookies, neverfear, are not magically cursed. They are just normal cookies.)

These rooms are a bit magical, you see — should you decide to room with another person (or multiple people), you’ll find that the room itself will accommodate your needs and expand accordingly. They look the same for the most part, so some might say that it would be wise to make your decision based on what your neighbors are like.

Say hello or potentially someone else’s room by accident; it’s a bit of a Russian roulette.

Regardless, it seems that this is your new home in sense of the word. Make the most of it!
wildcard.

The Temple is a pretty big place! The Forest of the Fey stretches on endlessly, Lake Dona (and the resident Nessie) is free to explore, and there are plenty of creatures who are curiously inspecting the new arrivals.

The wyverns seem to be particularly precocious today, given the singing mushrooms, the psychic flowers, and the new people checking into new rooms! They are relatively harmless (as are most of the creatures in the Temple), but can be pretty annoying . . . especially if you have something resembling a snack in your hand.

At any rate, free to explore the rest of the Temple, the Forest, or the Lake at your leisure! Unless otherwise designated in the bestiary, everything is free to play/free to explore. :)

With saving worlds. [ rimuru reaches for a cookie, biting it with delight ] That's why we were brought here.

[ sure, he was only kind of asked after he arrived, but saving worlds sound like a pretty big deal, of course he wouldn't refuse ]

I'm Rimuru Tempest! it's nice to meet you, miss Pepper!

Hi, Rimuru.

[ Pepper can't help but smile. Miss Pepper. This kid is cheerful-- maybe a little too much so, considering the circumstances. (Then again, gloom and doom is hardly a helpful attitude, either.) She also can't help but be Concerned that Astoria is bringing in such young people, too. ]

Have you found anybody from your own world, here? Is it just you?

[ Pepper would be in for a surprise regarding Rimuru's age.

He shakes his head ]
Not really. I even tried the communicator, but no luck. [ he sighs ] I hope everyone back home is alright, I feel bad for leaving without a warning.

I know what you mean. But... I don't think anyone has noticed we're gone. I couldn't begin to tell you how that's possible, but...

[ Pepper sighs and shakes her head a little before going on. ]

But my spouse [ "boyfriend" sounds way too juvenile ] has been here for four months already, according to him-- but I would have definitely noticed had he been missing for four months at any point, back home.

Really? So... time stops while we are here? [ that sounds like really powerful magic. For someone to be able to do that and with so many people... ]

That sounds weird. if she is so powerful to stop time in many different worlds at the same time... [ why create a circle to save worlds in first place? She could just do that herself, right? ]

I don't know for sure. But it sounds like it. [ She gives a shrug of one shoulder, frowning as she thinks about it. ]

Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe it's not her magic doing that part, though. Or there's another explanation. This isn't exactly my area of expertise, but she wouldn't have need of us if she was that powerful, would she?

[personal profile] rimuru 2019-02-21 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ no one actually seems to know much for sure. Astoria brought them here somehow, gave them powers somehow, can't seem to be able to control anything at all. ]

Hm, that was my thought. If she is so powerful to bring us here, stop time back home, give or take powers, how come she can't seem to control anything that is happening...?

[ Rimuru serious expression fades as he reaches for a cookie ] Maybe I'm overthinking it! [ he isn't, but it's not smart to bare fangs at a powerful being without knowing all details ]

I don't think you are. If anything, I don't think enough people are thinking about it as hard as they probably should.

[ Pepper is definitely not harboring very warm feelings toward Astoria, and not just because of the whole kidnapping thing. ]

It doesn't look like she has much of a plan for all this beyond throwing random people at the problem and hoping something sticks. [ That's really her beef with this. She can't stand poor planning and Astoria's method of using people like this. ]
