we're all a little mad here.

Needless to say, the Circle has been out of sorts as of late.

Fortunately, the weather has stabilized — residents will find that they are no longer plagued with snowstorms or heat waves. However, it appears that the flora and fauna have...come to life. Vines may wind around your feet and legs, entrapping you in a vice-like grip. They will eventually let go, but it seems like you need to speak nicely to them first. Bizarre, but it'll get the job done.

Mushrooms have also sprouted and now sing at you when you pass by — they aren’t particularly good singers either. Trees extend their branches to poke at you from behind, but when you turn around you’ll find that no one is there.

...And worst of all, the flowers seem to be especially privy to your thoughts; when you’re close, they’ll blab out whatever is on your mind at the moment and will only be silenced once they are picked. Best of luck surviving in this more, er, animated environment! Perhaps even plant-life can be reasoned with…? Or destroyed.

That’s always an option, isn’t it?

oh my god they were roommates.

It isn’t a proper welcome until you’ve picked out your room! In the hallways, you may find a table or two offering cookies and tea as you survey your newfound surroundings. They seem to be left by invisible people . . . weird? The Unseen Servants seem to be playing a bit more nicely from your arrival, and seem to be apologizing for their antics with sweets! (These cookies, neverfear, are not magically cursed. They are just normal cookies.)

These rooms are a bit magical, you see — should you decide to room with another person (or multiple people), you’ll find that the room itself will accommodate your needs and expand accordingly. They look the same for the most part, so some might say that it would be wise to make your decision based on what your neighbors are like.

Say hello or potentially someone else’s room by accident; it’s a bit of a Russian roulette.

Regardless, it seems that this is your new home in sense of the word. Make the most of it!

The Temple is a pretty big place! The Forest of the Fey stretches on endlessly, Lake Dona (and the resident Nessie) is free to explore, and there are plenty of creatures who are curiously inspecting the new arrivals.

The wyverns seem to be particularly precocious today, given the singing mushrooms, the psychic flowers, and the new people checking into new rooms! They are relatively harmless (as are most of the creatures in the Temple), but can be pretty annoying . . . especially if you have something resembling a snack in your hand.

At any rate, free to explore the rest of the Temple, the Forest, or the Lake at your leisure! Unless otherwise designated in the bestiary, everything is free to play/free to explore. :)

[In all honesty, Carolina doesn't want to be grabbed by anyone or anyone in the first place, unless it is for some purpose, such as saving her life. Even then... She's never been a touchy feely person to begin with, liking her personal space.

And it's vines.

She doesn't have a green thumb anyway.]

[As the glass is usually half empty when it comes to her as well. Vines that seek to wrap are a possible hazard, if not more. Given that this place is strange enough to begin with, Carolina isn't writing anything off.]

Why would I trip if I'm standing in one place...? [Ren seems genuinely stumped by that remark, though he's honestly clumsy enough at times that he could probably pull it off if he really set his mind to it. Nonetheless, his expression clears back to a smile at the next words.]

Oh, I always do that. [Always. Even when it's probably not a very good idea.] Speaking of you, though, are you new or have you been here for a while?

[It sounds more like she's been here for a while, but it's nice to have the confirmation. And Ren tends to pretend he isn't observant enough to pick that sort of thing at first.]

[She looks at him, long and hard, helmet not moving an inch. That... is not at all what she meant. It is not as if the vines waited for someone to stop. No, they crawled out and sought anything, without caring, which isn't surprising. They are vines.

She does finally move at his question, a breath exhaled.]

Arrived not too long ago.

[Likely sticks out like a sore thumb but Carolina isn't someone who cares about what others think about her. At least for the most part.]

[That's not very specific, but Ren's going to take the wild guess that someone who wears armour as concealing as hers as a matter of course isn't necessarily going to be that outgoing. Still, he gives a thoughtful hum and taps his chin a bit.]

I only just got here...so do the plants not normally do this? Is that why you're so bothered by it...?

[Or at least, she seems bothered by his standards, and his standards for bothered are basically "troubled by something in any sense of the word".]

[His opinion might change if he knew the Sim Troopers, but Wash and her are more reserved and focused than they are. Carolina does have to wonder about where he came from, and if it is normal for plants to act like this, given his question.]

Not generally, no. And I don't need something clinging to me for who knows what reason.

[Ren hums a little bit curiously at that answer, and then shrugs slightly as if it's not that much of a concern anyway. And goes back to running his hands over the plants as if he's petting an animal of some kind.]

Well, I guess some people just don't like certain things. Did something happen recently that made the plants weird, do you know...?

[If they're not normally like this, then presumably there's a reason for it, and now he's curious.]

I've no idea. I assumed this was how they always were.

[That these were native to this planet. Carolina knows that each world has its own unique ecosystem, so of course this place wouldn't be any different. Enough to be close to Earth, but more that is completely different.]

[That makes him tilt his head a bit, because he might've misinterpreted her comment on the plants earlier.] Wait, so did you know the plants weren't normally like this, or didn't you...? I'm confused now...

[His first thought is that maybe she was basing it on the plants of her own planet, but he'll let her confirm or deny that for him.]

I only have the planets I've visited to base my observations on.

[And since she just arrived here a short time ago, Carolina has only had the day to explore around to understand this place. Or try to, anyway, as getting information about this planet is not the easiest.]

Oh, so you are as new as me, then... [The phrasing earlier had been slightly vague, but that clears it up a bit more now. Still, it does make him curious in another sense, and he tilts his head a little.] How many planets have you visited before this one?

[She is vague for those that she doesn't know. Don't give out too much information, lest someone is able to use it against her. The glass tends to be half filled when it comes to Carolina.

The question does make her pause, as it's not one or two, but rather more, and it depends...]

Just planets, or anything space related like an asteroid?

[Oh, that's an interesting distinction. Ren taps his chin for a moment as he considers it. He does like hearing about people's stories, but at the same time, if he goes too broad he might just end up bored with the subject.]

I think just planets for now...unless you visited any really interesting asteroids. We were already talking about planets, anyway.

[She can say that generally speaking, there isn't too much usually going on an asteroid. Doesn't mean that a fight hasn't been brought there though. There is a pause, as she mentally tallies the number of planets in her head.]

A good handful.

[That is both oddly thought-out and incredibly vague as an answer, and Ren pouts a bit as one of the vines curls into his fingers, apparently for more petting.]

That's not a very specific answer...other than that it's a few, but that was already kind of obvious, right?

[Surprise. She's not the easiest one to work with.]

Of course. At least this one is habitable and we don't need oxygen through a helmet.

Hmm, I guess that is an advantage...though it would be kind of weird if the lady who brought us here didn't think about that part, right? Especially if a lot of humans show up.

[Or at least, potentially humanoid creatures that need oxygen to live.]
