( world #2 - struxta event log )

a storm approaches.
above ground.
It is early when you wake up to a message on your watches. Those underground will not receive this message, due to the complications with service. It is a simple line of text, with no further explanation given. You’re not sure how it even came through, or how they found a way to connect to the watches. Either way, a message comes across the screen.

All newcomers to Struxta are instructed to remain in their rooms until further notice.

It’s the middle of the day, on the 17th day in Struxta, that the notification rings out. Not through your bracelets, which might be your first assumption, but through what had previously been an unused announcement system. It doesn’t take much though to realize the announcement is for you - why would thousands of minds all connected to a singular consciousness need any kind of mass announcement system? No, they are talking to you. Whoever they are.

The announcement echoes through every building, street, hallway, and room in what feels to be the entire city - perhaps the entire world, and everyone above ground can hear it. It’s inescapable, really, the mechanical voice that calmly but firmly surrounds you.

All newcomers to Struxta are instructed to remain in their rooms until further notice.
Please return to your room if you haven’t already.

For those of you who are in your room, if you choose to venture out the Hostel itself will seem eerily normal. It is not until you get to the door that you see the figure - an imposing, large, mechanical figure armed with two devices. It takes up nearly the entire door, only moving aside if there is another Circle member being brought inside. Then it will return to its post. You will notice that if you approach the figure, it will not acknowledge you except to repeat the announcement.

Please return to your room.

They are impossible to sneak past, but more creative means could provide you with a way to get through. However, if they do catch up to anyone attempting to leave the premise, all they will need to do is touch a Circle member, and an electric shock strong enough to make any and everyone pass out will be administered.

If you do manage to make it past the Enforcers, the streets will feel oddly calm - like nothing has happened at all, despite the echo of the announcement around you. Do not waste time here, once you are free - the Enforcers will be chasing down any members who have gotten free, as made obvious if you choose to stay in any kind of public (and most private) spaces for more than an hour or so.

Where will you go?
below ground.
Whether it is a tip from another Circle member, or by coincidence alone, you might be able to find yourself underground. There seems to be more openings, now - all centered around the area of the Races. Doors and passageways with BG’s beckoning members in, taking them down below where even the sound of the announcement can’t be heard.

They will offer safety for anyone who was not originally part of the Tunnel Exploration, while also explaining what their fellow Circle members are preparing for. About the Storm, about their history - any of the previous questions asked here will be explained to anyone who makes the trek underground. It will take a day to get all the things in order to transport everyone to The Storm, and this will be a chance for all Circle members to regroup once they make it inside the tunnels.

They press you not to wander too far, and to instead simply wait with them in the industrial tunnels below the city, a never-ending interlocking maze of wires, pipes, and metal. It’s dark, dusty, and definitely not comfortable. But one thing it is, they explain in their glitchy half-sentences and partial thoughts, safe.

The Mass Consciousness has apparently deemed you a threat, and are systematically working on a solution to the problem. There’s no telling what they might do.
wildcard.
This is your world to explore. Something has tipped the Mass Consciousness off to a possible issue, a possible threat. What you do with this new status is up to you. Outside of the Hostel, the natives will completely ignore your existence, like you have been entirely erased from their reality. The only ones who seem to notice you are the Enforcers, and the BGs.

For those who have decided to investigate, and hopefully put an end to, The Storm, the log will be posted tomorrow (July 28th 11:59 PM EST). ICly and OOCly you will have one more day to prepare. Please be on the lookout for that log, as the description will include what you will find and what you can assume! We will also continue to take questions over at the OOC Post through the course of the event.

Above Ground

[Wash hasn't ventured too far away from the nearest entrance to Struxta's underground - honestly, below ground sounds a lot safer than the city proper right about now. He's been up here just long enough to get the message on his watch - he'd known the city was way too good to be true, but being right really sucks sometimes.]

[So he's on the lookout for members of the Circle in an attempt to bring them below ground. If he knows his fellow dimensional displacees as well as he thinks he does, then there have to be a few who've escaped from the hostel.]

[In fact, there's one right now.]

Hey - over here!

Below Ground

[The past 24 hours have given Wash a lot to think about - killer weather phenomena, a hive mind that might decide it wants the entire Circle dead, and the fact that he is currently really angry he hadn't thought to grab his armor before being dumped into Struxta.]

[That last one is an indulgence - honestly, there are better things to worry about, and he'll know for next time.]

[And there damn well will be a "next time."]

[For now, he's doing what he can to prepare for tomorrow's journey: namely organizing and passing on information - on the BGs, on the Storm, on the Mass Subconscious - and making sure whatever supplies they have are ready for the trip to the edge of the Storm.]

the hostel: action.
[ the minute the announcement is sent out, roy immediately avoids his room. you can find him exploring the bottom floors, attempting to find a way out, but once he is (perhaps inevitably) caught and told to stay inside, you can see him . . . well, calmly, attempting to talk his way out of being escorted back to his room. ]

-- no need to stay inside, all of us are capable of taking care of ourselves --

[ it seems like his hypnotic persuasion powers do not work on robots. who knew? feel free to catch him on his way back to his room, or come get him at his listed room -- he's going to be attempting to stay out of it for as long as possible, to test his luck. ]
the hostel: text ( public + locked )
[ after it's clear he's not able to walk out on his own, roy sends a message to the entirety of the circle. this message goes out to everyone, so if you are outside, please feel free to respond! ]

( public to the entirety of the circle )

Who else is trapped in the hostel?
We need to coordinate a way out of here.
These people are not our friends.

the hostel - open to one character who wants to escape
[She cannot stay here.

It isn't the thought of being cooped up helplessly in the Hostel that has her feeling rebellion pin-pricking at her skin, but the thought of there being something having caused these announcements out there, so soon after others of the Circle have mentioned something about an Under Ground. Call it a sense for trouble, but Allura knows something is amiss, and while part of her deciding to not remain in her (new) room at the hostel has something to do with her not wanting to sit idly, another part of her is honestly looking for a distraction from heavier thoughts that keep creeping in.

Without her abilities to change her size or shape, she is admittedly not the best when it comes to sneaking, especially when her paladin armour is a not-so-subtle white and pink. But there's the ghost-like figure something large and white shadowing her, keeping close like a blurred white fog.

For now she keeps to the walls, not knowing there aren't patrols keeping to the halls but something much larger on the ground floor preventing their leaving.

Running into another member she recognizes from the Circle, she'll approach with intent, hand at their shoulder.
]

Are you looking to leave as well?

above ground - ota
[Her sneaking around makes far more sense now that she's made her way out of the Hostel. The ghostly white shadow of a Lion still keeping close to her, a mist-like shield of sorts helping to misdirect any attention from the collective Mass Consciousness that looks her way.

She's wondering where to go, wondering what the issue actually is that made their once-hospitable natives keep them to the hostel.

Finding another Circle member, or traveling with another, she'll turn to them for advice.
]

Do you know what is happening here?

If you are having trouble getting out, let me know where you are. I have an ability that can help. -M. Hughes

Above Ground;
[He had his orders. Not that taking orders from Roy was really necessary when you were this far out of the reach of the military and technically dead. But Maes figured old habits died hard and following Roy was one of his oldest habits at this point.

It takes some thought. He can't let the big guy at his door (which is how he has taken to referring to the Enforcers) get wind of what he's doing, but he can't just hang around either. So, Maes makes a point of huffing and sliding down on the opposite side of his bed. He makes sure he's out of sight, waits to see if the big guy will check on him at all. He waits and nothing happens. Which probably means that he won't be missed. Maes closes his eyes, he can't necessarily envision each individual location but if he can picture the person he wants to get to usually that's enough to get his power to work. He's been practicing with it for the past few weeks now.

He just has to hope that whoever he teleports to can help him avoid the notice of any other Enforcers. Riza first. Then Alphonse. Then anyone who responds to his text. And then periodically checking on Roy. It's something he can do between teleports so that not everyone is disappearing all at once.

The big guy doesn't even notice when Maes is no longer in his room and a second later he's appearing elsewhere. Hopefully when he appears before a member of the Circle it's also out of sight of the Enforcers...but Maes's luck with that might not hold out for each venture.
]

(ooc: I'll leave it up to whoever responds whether Maes and whoever he is rescuing are seen by the Enforcers or not. Teleport chase scene could be fun.)

(1) escape the hostel . . . attempt number one.
[ lotor is not one to be told what to do.

attempt number one at leaving the hostel through the front door was a predictable failure, but that was really more to test hte boundaries of the prison than to actually succeed. nothing happens to him, then, so lotor then proceeds to explore the outskirts of the hostel. avoiding the rooms, exploring the lower areas. but every single door seems to be guarded by enforcers. you can find lotor near the kitchen area, earlier in the day, looking frustrated as he seems to be examining the panels in the walls.]

There has to be a way . . .

[ is he literally planning a jailbreak lotor you're like seven feet tall baby girl what is u doin ]
(2) escape the hostel . . . attempt number two.
[ later in the day, lotor is caught again, but this time, it's attempting to escape through one of the service elevators. and, once he is countered by a robot who lotor expects to tell him to go back to his room, he speaks: ]

I'm simply attempting to understand what, exactly, is --

[ . . . but this robot seems less inclined to listen, and reaches out to grab an arm. lotor immediately reacts by moving to draw what appears to be a sword at his hip, but the enforcer's palm sparks, and lotor's arms immediately go limp, the shock apparently knocking him out of commission for a few precious moments as the robot effectively drags him back to his room.

you can either catch him at his room, or catch him when he starts to stir mid-way -- but he's definitely not going to be moving anytime soon, until he can get back to his room. ]
(3) escape the hostel . . .text it??.
{ the following message is sent to the entirety of the circle: ]

Do not let them catch you escaping.
They do not treat you kindly.
Who has managed it, thusfar?

[ oops? oops. ]

sneaking out.
[ for the most part, this particular area of the hostel is kind of quiet. the back doors don't really see much movement on a normal basis, for the most part, not when the main doors are a convenient way to get in and out of the hostel.

not so much today, though.

if you're nearby, or just happen to be passing through the area, you're probably going to be hearing a small commotion, followed by a cry of pain. ]

Let go of me!

[ if you decide to look closer, you'll probably chance upon one very imposing enforcer android attempting to drag another one away from the back doors - but a couple of seconds later, her glamour as an enforcer android abruptly flickers off.

... and while arashi is putting up a bit of a fight in trying to get away from the enforcer trying to do its job, she's not really doing a very good job of it.

help a girl out? ]

regrouping.
[ somehow, one way or another, miraculously or with some assistance, when arashi makes it out of the hostel, she runs.

it's not safe, not like it was at yumenosaki, or at the temple, and while she's on the move, the eerily quiet streets are pretty easy to navigate.

she's on the look for people - other circle members, essentially, so, when she spots someone she may or may not recognise that doesn't look like an android, she's going to call out: ]
Over here!

[ and then promptly clap her hand over her mouth before she uses her other hand to gesture them over. trying to stay stealthy is hard. ]

on the run.
[ so apparently, if you stay a little too long in one place or another, the enforcers will find you.

so if you happen to be near the race tracks, you may find yourself grabbed and tugged along to move. ]

There's no time, quick--

[ and after rounding a couple of corners, arashi checking back every so often to make sure no one is on their tail just yet, then she'll turn back to whoever she just dragged along with an apologetic look. ]

Are you alright? I'm terribly sorry, but they've been looking for people if you stay out for too long....... we should keep moving.

[ she looks worried. with good reason. ]
